Chapter 42: Wash Clothes or Take a Bath
"Sss!"
The large body of the python slammed down heavily, dragging the leopard that was biting it with it.
Dust flew into the air.
But the python's last counterattack still couldn't make the leopard biting its body release its claws and sharp fangs.
Time passed, second by second.
Fresh blood continued to flow from the python's body, and it continued to struggle.
But the remaining strength in its fight gradually weakened.
The leopard slowly began to gain the upper hand.
Except for the annoying tail that kept brushing the leopard's back, the python's body barely showed any signs of life.
"Roar!"
With full satisfaction, the leopard tore a piece of flesh from the python's body with its sharp fangs, then let out a loud roar.
It had won.
Even though the leopard had stopped biting the python's body, the python could no longer move.
But just as the leopard raised its head, ready to continue chewing on the python's corpse -
A sharp, wind piercing sound came from behind its neck, piercing its throat.
"Auuu..."
The leopard didn't even have time to scream before a sharp arrow from a large fang pierced through its throat and into the ground.
Its four strong legs kicked the ground unconsciously, but soon its body went still.
The leopard's blood mixed with the python's blood.
Coincidentally, the python's eyes were focused on the dead leopard's eyeballs.
Two animal corpses were staring at each other in the same place.
Their eyes still met, but the spark of life was gone.
"Utaha, hold me. I'm going to jump down from the tree."
Of course, the arrow came from Jun's hand.
He hadn't expected that the python would end up being injured by the savage humans and then bitten to death by the leopard.
But this outcome was actually the most ideal.
When the crane and the clam fight, the fisherman wins.
Today, Jun was indeed that fisherman.
"J-Jump down?"
Utaha couldn't help but open her eyes and look down from the tree.
After all, it was more than four meters high, wouldn't it hurt to jump?
Besides... the one Jun just killed... was really a wild human...
Utaha looked at the body of the wild human lying under the tree.
She hugged Jun's body tighter and then closed her eyes again.
"Mm, I'm holding on tight!"
Jun felt that since his body's attributes had increased, his physical condition was much better than before.
From that four or five meter height...
He felt that even carrying Utaha wouldn't be a problem.
"Mm!"
Utaha nodded gently in his embrace.
"All right!"
Jun shifted Utaha's hips slightly and then jumped down from the tree without hesitation.
"Uuh..."
The sudden sensation of floating made Utaha let out a startled groan.
Bruk!
Jun landed firmly on the ground. He managed to jump from the tree to the ground perfectly.
Just as I thought, my physical condition has indeed surpassed that of an ordinary human.
If an average attribute value of one hundred is the standard for a normal human, then I could be twice that now...
After landing safely, Jun felt even more confident in his guess.
Attribute upgrades not only unlock new abilities, but also truly strengthen the body.
"We... really jumped from that tree?"
Utaha stepped out of Jun's embrace and stared blankly at the tree, then looked at the footprints on the ground from their landing due to their combined weight.
"This island is really strange. Maybe later, Utaha-senpai can be as strong as me."
Jun held his bow and slowly led Utaha to the dead leopard and python carcasses.
"I can be as strong as Jun-kun?"
Utaha seemed shocked.
"This snake is so huge... and this one, a tiger?"
Utaha covered her nose with her hand as she watched the two large animals lying on the ground.
As for the human corpse under the tree, both Jun and Utaha chose to ignore it.
"That's a leopard, but the animals on this island are all oversized, so it looks like a tiger."
Jun used a wooden stick to poke the dead leopard and python, making sure they were really dead.
"There's still plenty of time today, and we have enough meat. I think we can carry it all home."
The sun was still high in the sky, so it must have been around noon.
They also gathered climbing plants earlier. Later, they had to drag the two corpses to a nearby river, build a wooden raft, and follow the current back to the camp by the beach. That's all.
"Can we really bring it all home?"
Utaha stared at the giant python, which was even twice as thick as they were combined. They felt that no matter how hard they tried, it was impossible to carry all that snake meat home.
"No problem. The snake's organs usually weigh a lot. I'll empty its stomach first; it should be possible to carry then…"
Compared to when they first explored the forest earlier, Jun had gotten much stronger.
"The only trouble now is those savage humans..."
Jun had seen four wild people from the tree before.
During the recent chaos, three of them escaped.
Only one was unlucky and became a dead body.
"Savage humans... they won't come back here, right?"
"For now, probably not, since they don't know their python and leopard are dead..."
While they were talking, Jun took an iron knife. He chopped the python's head off. Then he started cutting open its stomach.
"Good, thank goodness..."
Utaha stood quietly behind Jun. The python smelled like a fish, but she was curious, so she watched Jun closely.
"Can I help?"
The girl also wanted to make things easier for the person she cared about.
"Hmm... Utaha-senpai, could you please take the fang arrow that's still stuck in the leopard's neck?"
Jun thought the wild boar's fang was a better tool for cutting the snake's body than an ordinary iron knife.
"Okay!"
Utaha walked toward the dead leopard and carefully pulled out the arrow lodged in its neck.
"So strong..."
Utaha tried several times but still couldn't pull it out all at once.
She bit her lip, stepped on the leopard's body with her foot, then pulled the arrow's shaft with all her strength.
Pluk.
"I pulled out the arrow!"
The girl felt the arrowhead suddenly become much lighter in her hand.
However, she pulled too hard, which pushed her body backward and almost made her fall.
"Be careful!"
Jun immediately caught her and hugged her from behind.
"Ah... thank you!"
After standing up straight again, Utaha happily gave the young man the boar-fang arrow.
Pulling out that arrow was really hard.
"After this is done, we should go home to wash our clothes and take a bath..."
The girl's face and clothes were already covered in animal blood.
"Yaaah!"
Utaha quickly wiped the bloodstains off her clothes with her hands.
But the more she wiped, the more dirt she was putting on.
"The smell too..."
The girl looked closely at the young man in front of her.
She saw that Jun's body was just as dirty as hers.
She felt a little better.
"When we get home, I'll wash your clothes, Jun-kun, okay?"
Utaha smiled and wiped the leopard blood from her hands onto Jun's clothes.
Seeing the young man getting dirtier and dirtier because of her mischief, the girl's eyes narrowed in happiness like a crescent moon.
Sometimes, her happiness was indeed that simple.
"Washing clothes? Actually, I want you to help me take a bath..."
Jun patted Utaha's white hand playfully.
"Help you take a bath?"
Helping Jun take a bath... that sounded too difficult. Right now, Utaha did not feel ready to do something so complicated - and embarrassing.
