Chapter 8

Jayden’s POV

The night was chilly, it was hard to see a thing until I felt cold hands wrap around my neck.

It wasn’t Valerie. And it definitely wasn’t Mia. So who the hell?

“Hi baby, did you miss me?” a voice whispered in my ear, placing a soft kiss on my neck.

“I missed you more than anything,” she purred.

I grabbed her hands and pulled them off me, spinning around and there she was. The last person I wanted to see.

Carmen.

My ex.

“Hey~,” she purred again, stepping closer.

“How the—” I started, but before I could finish, she kissed me.

Hard.

I hated it.

I pulled away immediately and that’s when I saw Valerie, standing there. Frozen. Her expression shattered before she turned and ran off.

I shoved Carmen off me.

Crap. She saw everything.

I waited by the door for what felt like forever. When Valerie finally came out, she had this bright, fake smile… until she saw me. And then it just dropped.

She’d been crying.
