It was stupid that this thought had crossed my mind, but the fear in Drego's eyes when he saw me wounded made me think I had hope after all. And when he barked at the doctor to make sure nothing happened to me even after he'd been told that the bullet only grazed my left shoulder, I knew in my bones that I would do the same thing all over again.

I'd risk everything for him.

When I saw that car coming at full speed, I knew without a doubt in my mind that they were after him again. The only thing I could think at that moment was saving him. My body responded so quickly to protect him like I was built for that purpose and that purpose alone.

Reid had told me. More like divulged everything to me. The part of the story Drego had left out the night at the bar was in fact the most important part.

They blamed him. They wanted revenge for the death of their sister.

Maybe he left it out because he too blamed himself.
