Chapter twenty-nine

Drego

It had been a week since I asked Nichole to move in with me.

I can't say I wasn't disappointed when she hesitated. And when she finally spoke and she'd said she'd think about it, I almost tried to convince her otherwise.

But I understood why she was hesitant. I had pushed her away over and over again. Nichole had been patient with me. Now it was my turn to wait for her. It didn't matter how long it took, I was determined to wait.

But after one week, waiting was beginning to feel like I had little air left before I finally drowned under water. Even now, focusing on this meeting was hard.

As if on cue, Nichole's name popped up on my screen. Her message only one word.

Busy?

I was. Terry from the production team was sharing the added feature to the new smart watch we were to launch next month.

'No. Got good news for me?' I responded instantly. My attention was already divided. And I could always ask for a recap later. When my mind was in a better space.
