Glossary of Terms – The Last Orbit
1. Neural War-Bending
Definition: A form of advanced technology that manipulates the human brain to influence or control behavior, thought, and memory.
Explanation: Think of it like hacking a person's mind—turning them into soldiers who follow orders without question.
2. The Obsidian Protocol
Definition: A secret program that experimented on neural control and advanced war strategies using former soldiers.
Explanation: It's the evil organization or experiment behind most of the story's conflict. They used Kael's past and brain data to build something dangerous.
3. Aethran Ring / Aethran Program
Definition: A shadowy faction or scientific division that originally developed advanced mental warfare and experimental technologies.
Explanation: They're the ones who trained Kael and later turned to darker, more unethical uses of tech.
4. Flame-class Carrier
Definition: A large, heavily armored warship class used in older galactic battles.
Explanation: The "tanks" of space—slow but powerful ships like The Pyre, now rare and outdated.
5. FTL (Faster-than-Light Travel)
Definition: Space travel technology allowing ships to move faster than the speed of light.
Explanation: Used to travel between stars quickly; common in sci-fi worlds.
6. Cloaking Device
Definition: A system that hides a spaceship from sensors and visual detection.
Explanation: Makes a ship invisible—good for sneaking into enemy territory.
7. Proximity Alert
Definition: An automatic warning that something is nearby, like another ship.
Explanation: Like a radar beep telling you someone's getting close.
8. Plasma Scars / Plasma Blasts
Definition: Damage caused by high-energy plasma weapons that burn through ship armor.
Explanation: Like burns or bullet holes—but in metal ships, from space guns.
9. Cryo-Tanks
Definition: Pods that keep people alive in a frozen or unconscious state.
Explanation: Used to store or transport people safely for long periods—usually in experiments or long missions.
10. Neural Dampeners
Definition: Devices that block or reduce brainwave manipulation or control.
Explanation: Like helmets that protect your mind from being hacked or taken over.
11. Command Protocols
Definition: Pre-set instructions or programs embedded into artificial minds or altered brains.
Explanation: Rules that control what someone can do, like programming a robot.
12. Obsidian Unit
Definition: A designation for people or clones involved in the Obsidian experiments.
Explanation: Like being a numbered test subject in a military lab.
13. Magnetic Cuffs
Definition: Restraints used to bind people using magnetic force.
Explanation: Futuristic handcuffs that snap on and can only be removed electronically.
14. Derelict Orbital Station
Definition: An abandoned or damaged space station still orbiting a planet or star.
Explanation: A ghost station, often used as hiding places or traps.
15. Sector 7-C / Sector Delta-17
Definition: Designated space zones used for navigation or location identification.
Explanation: Like area codes or map coordinates in space.
16. Tactical Scrambler
Definition: A device that blocks enemy signals or distorts communications.
Explanation: Used to jam or confuse enemy tech—like messing with WiFi signals but in space battles.
17. First Generation (of war-bent soldiers)
Definition: The first group of people completely rewritten by neural tech to become loyal, emotionless soldiers.
Explanation: These are the earliest "products" of the experiments Kael is trying to stop.
