47. Adrian's medicine and village care

AT THE SAME TIME

XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:

Adrian leaned against me, his weight heavy but familiar, his steps slow and dragging. I never thought I see him so weak. I practically had to guide him to the couch. I sat on bed and sighed a bit. We were finally back I sighed in a relief.

"You good?" I whispered as he sank into the cushions, his eyes already fluttering.

He hummed, something between tired and annoyed.

"I hate this. I feel like an old man."He said.

"You look like an exhausted cryptid, not a senior." I teased, and he chuckled under his breath.

Then Charlie followed us in, setting down the first dose of that godawful medicine. The smell hit the air like a slap to the face.

"Ugh, why does it smell like fermented swamp and despair?" I gagged, covering my nose with my sleeve.
