CHAPTER 10

~Adrian~

I ran at full vamp speed to search for Paige; it was much quicker than my car. When I arrived, the house was dark, the windows were indeed busted out, and the front door was left open. I went inside and I could immediately smell blood. It wasn't Paige's blood though, it was Nicole's and someone else's, but not Paige. I clung to whatever hope I had that she might still be alive. I made my way upstairs and found Paige's room from where her scent was strongest. I noticed her phone on the nightstand by her bed. She would never leave her phone behind willingly. I put it in my pocket and continued my search for any clues that could lead me to her. I saw a small washcloth in her bed; it had a chemical stench on it. I took another sniff, almost sure it was chloroform, and if I was human one whiff of that washcloth would have put me on my ass. I put the washcloth in my pocket and then my phone rang.

"Hello David, did everything go smoothly?" I asked.

"She's alive, so to speak. You were right, I did have to turn her, she's conscious now, but in shock...and she remembers what happened. Just get down here and speak with her, she doesn't yet understand the risk of being around mortals at this time. She is just set on revenge, and wants to save Paige," he said.

"I'm on my way," I said, then headed backtowards the club at full vamp speed, hoping thatNicole will remember enough to help me find Paige.
