Unexpected reunion

"The principle will be nagging on our ass" Said Sa-iq sarcastically while laughing with Sami

School had ended early, as most of the school was evacuated when they had gotten a message that there was a demon nearby. Outside the school stood nearby agents who were ready to jump in if the situation got worse. Outside stood the local city agent and 2 students who happened to be Dermine agents. Sara Shawkat and Sam Nari.

Sa-iq and Sami get out of the school and are greeted by the local police corps who were sent out to get the situation in control.

"Sa-iq! Are you alright? Why didn't you wait?" Asked Sara worryingly. Sa-iq was not listening to her at all though. His eyes were on someone else. Far out was a person around Sami's age, his hair resembled a bowl cut. It's color closely resembled a shade of orange.

"Sam?" Thought Sa-iq out loud, Sami confirmed that.

"It had been so long since I've seen him, just one day he stopped responding to me and stopped coming to school." Said Sa-iq.

"Yeah he also stopped responding to my texts, I hope things with him and his parents are going well." Responded Sami

Sa-iq pushed the officers aside to go over to Sam. Sam stared down at Sa-iq, no idea what to say.

"Sam! What's wrong bro? I haven't seen you in ages." Asked Sa-iq worryingly. Completely forgetting to ask him about his status as an agent.

"I see Sami's here, hey how about me and Sami come over to your house where we can talk about it?" Asked Sam. Sa-iq accepted.

Shortly after.

The twins opened the door to get inside. Their mom standing in the kitchen, not expecting them to get home this early.

"Sara! What brought you back so early?" She said in excitement.

"Demonic attack." Responded Sara before going into her room.

Layla, the mom starting thinking as she looked at Sa-iq. Just like usual she ignored him, and it came to a point where he ignored her too. It's a lifestyle at this point, a lifestyle that was brought by past trauma. For once in her life, Layla wanted to rebuild her relationship with Sa-iq.

"Mom, my friends will be coming over is that alright?" Asked Sa-iq. His face was was blank, it was obvious that he didn't want to talk with her. Layla said yes, but her face was full of confusion.

"Wha- how? His missing front tooth that he lost a year ago, how is it back?" She thought to herself.

Some time later.

The front door started knocking. Sa-iq and Sami immediately stopped playing on the controller to open the door. Waiting on the other side stood Sam, ready to confront after ghosting the two. Sam was like a bridge who connected Sa-iq and Sami. If Sam wasn't there, the other two wouldn't bother being with each other. It started with the fact that both Sa-iq and Sam are Dermines, and they both knew that, which is why they hung out with each other a lot. Sami had no idea that he was a Dermine, so he never truly connected with the other 2. Sami was also a socially anxious person, he was only ever comfortable being himself around his family or his 2 other friends. Because of this Sami grew up to be rather lonely. Sa-iq was able to get along with anyone, however he only truly befriended those who were like him. Sam wasn't like Sa-iq, as he befriended anyone he could. Due to this Sam could be a duo with both of them, while Sa-iq and Sami never really hung out much due to Sa-iq thinking Sami wasn't a Dermine.

"H-hey guys, long time no see." Said Sam awkwardly after the door got opened. The guys walked over towards the same living room, the game on the screen being paused.

"Where have you been Sam? Is everything alright?" Asked Sami.

"S-sorry guys, I haven't been doing well lately. I-" Sam was cut off by Sa-iq

"Soooo, you joined the Agency, mind explaining how?" Asked Sa-iq, when he saw Sam standing there he assumed that Sam was also an agent. Sam is also under the age of 18, which means it should be against the law for him to become an agent.

"Oh- I don't know I signed up a lot before but they kept rejecting me to my age, but I don't know why when I mentioned that I might work with you, I got accepted." Responded Sam.

Sa-iq was surprised. "Sami also got accepted because of me. What does this mean?" He thought to himself

"Anyways, my dad is gone." He barely managed to get out. The room fell quiet.

"Once my dad wanted to divorce, my mom started to threaten him with so many stuff. I don't know what they were but she drove him to suicide." Followed Sam.

Sam and Sa-iq didn't become friends just because they were Dermines, they had another thing in common, both of them didn't have a good relationship with there mother and they bonded over that. People around them would always boast about how you should always respect your parents no matter what. But they thought that was stupid, after all those people never experienced living under a person who's supposed to love you, yet ignores all of your needs, making you feel dependent on others.

The other 2 started apologizing to Sam, it was probably very difficult for someone at his age to get that information out.

"That was a couple of months ago. My mom got arrested and I live with a foster family now. I've been getting tired so I couldn't really come to school. I thought you guys hated me because I stopped talking as much so I stopped texting you back. Please forgive me." Said Sam desperately.

"You don't need to, we're just glad you're ok." Responded Sa-iq

A few seconds of silence passed, each second feeling like hours. Sam decided to break that silence. "So Sami, what brought you guys back to the city?" Asked Sam. The conversation between Sa-iq and Sami from today then repeated

A few hours have passed, the guys are having fun.

"I'm so glad that we got to reunite, it's been some time." Said Sami. Sa-iq did his usual cocky smile where he always showcases his teeth. The other guys went home for the night, but just before leaving Sa-iq remembered something.

"Oh yeah Sam, I never asked but what's your Dermine?" Asked Sa-iq.

"Oh it's uhhh, I guess you'll have to see me use it loser!" Said Sam. While he did not get an answer, Sa-iq was glad to see Sam becoming his usual self again. It meant his new family was kind to him unlike his old one.
