Huo Yuhao picked up the chalk again and began writing and sketching on the massive blackboard that matched the enormous room in size. Gradually, one after another, complex mechanical schematics based on core formations appeared across the board.
Of course, the principles behind these mechanical systems were adapted to fit the rules of this world. In fact, converting something like a handgun from Earth into this world was no different from creating a soul tool.
Jing Hongchen listened intently. As time passed, the other soul engineers working in the room gradually stopped what they were doing and began focusing on Huo Yuhao's lecture.
Soon, the only sounds in the entire workshop were the tapping of chalk on the board and the sound of Huo Yuhao's voice.
Not until the entire blackboard was filled did Huo Yuhao finally let out a long breath and climb down from the ladder.
"Well, that's basically it. By incorporating these mechanical structures powered by core formations into the humanoid soul tool—mecha—we can eliminate a massive number of redundant core formations."
The huge workshop fell completely silent for a moment. Then Jing Hongchen stood up with gleaming eyes and led the applause. The other soul engineers, still captivated or lost in thought, joined in excitedly.
"Miniaturize it."
"Smaller size!"
"Make good use of these mechanical systems."
Thunderous applause and murmured discussions of excitement filled the room.
At that moment, none of the advanced soul engineers present—each at least a sixth-rank—dared look down on the twelve-year-old boy before them.
His genius-level ideas had completely stunned them.
Huo Yuhao had the urge to say, 'I'm just standing on the shoulders of countless giants,' but he held back.
Jing Hongchen walked over to him, laughing loudly. "Brilliant idea! Truly brilliant! Yuhao, do you have time?"
"Of course, Master."
Jing Hongchen nodded in satisfaction, then turned to the other soul engineers and called out, "Everyone, stop what you're doing. We've got a new task!"
Ten hours later.
Inside the vast workshop, everyone stood in a circle, gazing at the object in the center with eyes full of fatigue and excitement.
This was the result of their combined effort, including Huo Yuhao and Jing Hongchen—a fully completed, miniaturized humanoid mecha: the Powered Armor.
With the team's experience in creating large-scale humanoid soul tools and Huo Yuhao's crucial innovations in mechanical structure, the Powered Armor had come together smoothly without major setbacks.
The armor gleamed with alternating silver and gold metal hues, radiating a fierce, industrial, mechanical beauty. At the same time, vibrant magic crystals and rare metals embedded in key parts of the armor added a touch of magical elegance to its appearance.
"Who wants to try it out?"
Jing Hongchen licked his lips as he spoke. The Powered Armor was roughly equivalent to a fifth-ranked soul tool in function, but the level of technological refinement far surpassed what a typical fifth-ranked device could offer. Its requirements for soul power and spiritual power were about the same.
"I'll do it."
Huo Yuhao raised his hand eagerly, clearly itching to give it a go.
"Your spiritual power is definitely sufficient. As for soul power, just use a leaking soul power bottle for now. It's only a test run anyway."
As Jing Hongchen spoke, he signaled for a soul engineer to insert a soul power bottle into the pre-installed slot inside the Powered Armor.
Hearing that, several other soul engineers were shocked. 'This kid... he's only twelve, but his spiritual power is already at the level of a Soul King?'
Huo Yuhao walked up to the Powered Armor. With a single thought, various parts of the armor activated and unfolded, creating an opening in the humanoid shell for him to step into.
As he entered, the Powered Armor sealed around him seamlessly. Once fully suited up, a screen appeared before his eyes, displaying a 360-degree view of his surroundings, remaining soul power levels, and other vital information.
Of course, for someone with spiritual detection like Huo Yuhao, this display was more or less redundant.
Beyond that, the screen also included night vision, enemy identification, and other intelligent functions.
Huo Yuhao began testing its mobility. Though the armor weighed over a ton, with the soul-powered core formations and mechanical systems assisting him, he felt no difficulty moving.
He tried running, jumping, various maneuvers—even more agile than a normal human.
Then he began testing high-mobility movements. While he couldn't be as fast or flexible as a true agility-type soul master, dodging slower attacks would be no problem at all.
"Preparing for takeoff."
Huo Yuhao activated the soul-powered thrusters and the improved flight system built into the armor's back. The Powered Armor rose smoothly and flew freely around the upper levels of the workshop.
However, he quickly noticed the soul power consumption rate increasing. Watching the remaining energy drop on the display, he reluctantly landed back on the ground.
"Seventy percent left. Not too bad, considering this is just a leaking bottle and a fifth-ranked setup. Even if it runs out, it can be swapped in time."
Next came the highlight of the test—firepower.
Inside the Powered Armor, Huo Yuhao gripped a pair of joystick-like controllers. Several buttons on the joysticks activated different fire modes.
He pressed one, mentally targeting a weapons testing area in the workshop that had been prepared in advance. Several red targeting circles lit up on the screen. Openings on the armor's shoulders released a burst of fourth-ranked fixed soul cannon shells, hitting the target area with pinpoint accuracy and exploding in a loud blast.
The Powered Armor was equipped with fifteen fourth-ranked shells, ten fifth-ranked, five sixth-ranked, and one seventh-ranked soul cannon shell.
It even had a storage-type soul tool installed, allowing it to hold additional shells and automatically reload by consuming soul power.
However, eighth- and ninth-ranked soul cannon shells still couldn't be fired. Those required heavy, high-load launchers, which would severely limit the mobility of a compact armor like this.
Since they were still indoors, Huo Yuhao didn't fire any more fixed shells. Instead, he tested other conventional attacks: various soul ray weapons, small-scale cannon shells, and auxiliary offensive functions like Weakening Light. The Powered Armor could only be described as armed to the teeth.
After completing the weapon system tests, Huo Yuhao powered down the armor and climbed out, slightly drained.
Truthfully, after that intense firing sequence, the soul power bottle had been completely emptied. He was running entirely on his own reserves.
"So, how was it?"
he asked.
"Perfect."
"Excellent."
"A unit like this would only cost around two million gold soul coins to produce. Totally feasible for large-scale manufacturing and military deployment."
"Exactly. With high-energy compression arrays and linked soul tool shields, these would be as powerful as the elite soul engineer legions. Multiple units working together could achieve incredible results."
"If we install spiritual power amplification and sealed bottles, even Soul Ancestor or Soul Grandmaster-level soul engineers could operate them."
"And if we scale down a few functions, even ordinary people could be equipped with Powered Armor."
