Chapter 64: Edward Wu

Chaos, ever-increasing chaos. At every entrance, Worms poured in. The fighters had to defend, protecting VIPs inside.

"Damn it, what's going on? How did these people get on the island?"

Wild Tiger Wakatsuki frowned after beating back several Worm members, but the attackers seemed endless.

"This isn't good. They're all armed."

Kaolan Wongsawat said, fighting back-to-back with Wakatsuki.

Though the Worms had weapons, the fighters could hold the entrances together.

Yet there was a sense of unease. Observant people noticed—the force attacking the arena wasn't that strong. None matched the level of the few killed instantly by the Fang of Metsudo, Gusion.

It was as if the Worms just sent in cannon fodder to keep the fighters trapped inside.

In the VIP room, Katahara Metsudo frowned deeply.

"The Worm's real targets aren't the guests; they just want to pin down the fighters so they can hunt their real prey outside."

He looked worried.

 "Erioh, don't die…"

….

Boom—!

In a corridor outside the arena, a figure was smashed into the wall. It was Kure Hollis.

In the middle of the corridor, the surrounded man stood calmly: golden hair slicked back, sunglasses on, unlit cigar in his mouth.

Facing the most feared assassination clan in Japan, he looked contemptuous, even lighting his cigar leisurely.

He glanced at Kure Hollis, who smashed into the wall, then at the wounded Erioh and Raian.

"What a waste. Just a bunch of outdated trash. Who gave you the courage to ambush me?"

"Huh? I didn't ask them for help. I can slaughter you myself!"

Raian, in full Removal mode, was wild and bloody, but his fighting spirit was undiminished.

"Edward, you are strong—almost as strong as I was in my youth."

Erioh said. His thin, short figure contrasted sharply with Edward's. Even armed with a katana, he hadn't gained the upper hand.

He had to admit, time spares no one.

"Don't you get it? You're stuck in the past, while our Westward faction is the future. After a thousand years, we've evolved far beyond you."

Edward Wu exhaled cigar smoke.

"Move aside and I'll let you live. Don't get in my way."

"The Worm and Westward Wu have come to this island to destroy the Kengan Association?"

Erioh sneered, "Such ambition."

"Kengan Association? Ha…"

Edward sneered. "Destroying the Kengan Association is just a bonus. I don't care what happens to you. I just want to kill Gusion and protect this world."

Erioh and Raian's eyes narrowed. Raian laughed,

"Protect the world? That's rich! I can't believe I'm hearing Edward Wu say he wants to protect the world!"

His laughter faded, replaced by an icy, vicious look.

 "Don't joke. We're assassins!"

He charged in, displaying his clan's killing techniques, but Edward Wu dodged with ease and then landed a punch that sent Raian flying down the corridor.

Erioh stabbed from behind, but Edward moved as if he had eyes in the back of his head. The blade slid harmlessly between his arm and body, and then he twisted, breaking the katana.

With a spin, he chopped Erioh in the neck, sending the old man flying, fate uncertain.

"Enough. Small fry should know their place. If you want to die, I'll give you another chance later."

Edward Wu strode toward the arena. He didn't trust The Other Niko's disciples to kill Gusion—he'd have to finish the job himself.

He said he wanted to protect the world, which was no joke. With the Tiger's Vessel dead, the Connector must be furious.

And if the Connector was angry, the world would be in danger.

At least, that's what Xia Yan believed. Edward himself didn't care but didn't want to be caught in the crossfire.

Tokita Ohma's death meant Shen Wulong's plan would be delayed at least twenty more years. Even after five thousand years of life, Shen Wulong was getting impatient to fight his self in this life.

That's why they cooperated with that strange man. If he could truly separate Shen Wulong into Dragon and Tiger personalities with two bodies, then what they were doing now had meaning.

"Don't run coward…"

Raian staggered to his feet, bloodied but full of fighting spirit. He refused to allow himself to lose again and again.

He was supposed to be the Kure clan's unbeatable genius but had never beaten Gusion. Now their enemy was here to kill Gusion, treating him as if he didn't exist.

"Gusion this, Gusion that, blablabla—everyone only talks about Gusion…"

Raian, full Removal, spread his arms, grinning madly.

 "That guy—he's mine to kill!"

Edward paused, veins bulging on his forehead.

 "You calling me a coward?"

He spun, entering Guihun mode for the first time. Until now, he hadn't even needed it to suppress the Kure clan's top fighters—he was truly enraged.

With a roar, he stomped the ground, cracking the floor.

"Who're you calling a coward, brat?!"

Edward Wu's massive form lunged, axe-kicking toward Raian's head like a warhammer.

Raian's madness didn't falter. He raised his arms to block, planning to counter with a kick to Edward's groin.

Boom—!

To everyone's surprise, Edward's killing kick didn't land. Raian's attack was blocked by a new arrival.

With a dull thud, the floor shattered, debris flying, as Gusion's purple-black eyes lit up with the joy of finding prey.

Edward Wu instinctively flipped back, landing safely, eyes wary.

"Hey, Raian, taking a beating again, huh?"

That hated voice made Raian furious.

"Why are you butting in?! I was about to bust his balls!"

Gusion noticed the dark sheen on Raian's arms, surprised, then smiled.

"If you use my secret technique, you won't die—but it won't feel good, either."

He didn't let Raian argue, stepping forward to block him.

"Get your clan leader and people out. His head is mine."

Raian seethed but knew he was too injured to fight now, and the old man needed immediate help.

He grudgingly gathered his people and left via a side stairwell.

"Hahaha, didn't expect you to walk right into my hands! The other Niko's disciples were really useless."

Edward laughed, seeing Gusion was uninjured—Fei Wangfang and the others hadn't even scratched Gusion.

Gusion, holding Mazuko, sized up Edward Wu.

"I could've broken your leg just now, but I held back for Raian's sake. Are you really not going to use a weapon?"

Edward Wu crouched, hands out like a tiger.

 "I am the strongest weapon."

Gusion sighed,

"I'd like to praise your spirit, but you don't have the strength to back it up. Is the other Tokita Niko here? What about Xia Yan?"

Veins bulged on Edward's forehead.

"Don't think you're stronger just because you blocked one of my blows. I'm not like those other weaklings. I'll tear your limbs off—the client never said your corpse had to be whole!"

"Oh? The client? Sounds like someone's after me…"

Gusion grinned, baring his teeth.

 "Mind telling me who?"

"No need—you'll meet him soon… as a corpse!"

Edward lunged. At 100% Guihun, he was far stronger than Raian's full Removal. He was the Wu clan's peak of strength and skill!

But as they passed each other, Edward's fist only ruffled Gusion's hair—one of his hands soared through the air.

Gusion turned to watch the fountain of blood.

"Not that tough. So this is the body you call the ultimate weapon?"
