Chapter 27: The Power That Should Not Awaken

Chapter 27: The Power That Should Not Awaken

The battle was chaos—pure, blinding chaos.

The Shadow Queen danced through the storm of darkness, her blade slicing through the Abyssal echoes like a streak of moonlight against an eternal night. But for every one she cut down, two more seemed to rise from the swirling mist.

I crouched low behind the shattered remains of my coffee table, heart pounding so hard it echoed louder than the thunder outside.

And then… I heard it.

A faint whisper.

At first, I thought it was the howling wind.

But no… it was inside my head.

"Liam… Open the door…"

I pressed my hands to my ears, but the whisper grew louder, more insistent.

"Open the door, Liam… Claim your rightful throne… The power is yours for the taking…"

I gasped, falling to my knees as a burning pain exploded in my chest.

My shadow—twisting violently beneath me—rose up like a living entity. It wasn't responding to the Queen anymore.

It was responding… to me.

The Queen turned mid-battle, her crimson eyes widening in shock.

"No! Liam—Don't listen to it!"

But it was too late.

The world went black.

When I opened my eyes again, I was no longer in my apartment.

I stood in a vast, endless hall of shadows, towering pillars stretching up into nothingness.

At the far end of the hall, a massive obsidian throne sat waiting—cracked, ancient, but still pulsing with unimaginable power.

And behind it…

A monstrous, serpent-like figure loomed in the darkness. Its eyes were burning suns in the void.

"Welcome home… Final Heir."

Back in the real world, my body stood on its own.

Eyes glowing with a faint silver light.

My shadow lashed out uncontrollably, forming massive wings of darkness, coiling around the Queen and the Abyssal creatures alike.

The battlefield froze.

The Sovereign's echo took a step back.

"The Bloodline… has truly returned."

I barely registered the Queen rushing toward me, her voice distant.

"Liam, fight it! That power isn't fully awakened yet—it will consume you!"

But for the first time in my life…

I didn't feel weak.

I didn't feel scared.

I felt… unstoppable.
