The Storm Gate

Location: Skies Above South Tavara – Dominion Pursuit Vessel

The night sky burned.

High above the coast, Dominion airships thundered through the clouds, engines blazing with artificial fire. Their target was fixed: an off-grid signal triangulated to the southern cliffs. But inside the lead pursuit vessel, Commander Hestrell frowned at the tactical readout.

"This doesn't make sense," she muttered. "There's nothing down there but rock and sea."

"Orders are clear," her subordinate replied. "Level it."

As the fleet moved into position, cloaked turrets emerged from the sea cliffs—ancient Reclamation defenses, now reactivated under Victor's command.

They fired.

Missiles screamed upward like divine judgment, tearing through the Dominion formation. One ship exploded midair, debris raining into the ocean.

"They're attacking faster than expected," Nora said, her hands flying across the control panel. "We've got five confirmed targets—now four."

Zuri patched into the turrets. "Defensive protocol is only buying us minutes."

Victor nodded. "We need to activate the Storm Gate."

Zuri hesitated. "You mean the tunnel hidden beneath the core? The one designed for full-scale Reclamation escape?"

"Exactly," Victor said. "We need to disappear before Thorne sends reinforcements."

Nora's voice tightened. "And Prototype Zero?"

Victor looked at her. "We bring him with us."

Zuri raised an eyebrow. "You're going to move the world's most dangerous AI?"

"No," Victor said, his voice resolute. "I'm going to free him."

Thorne's fist slammed into the control panel. "How the hell did they find a Storm Gate?! That line was erased."

A hologram flickered in front of him—an intercepted feed from the coastal defense network. Victor Kane stood at its center, calm and unbroken.

"This boy," Thorne growled, "is becoming a legend."

His lieutenant, a pale man in an obsidian uniform, stepped forward. "If I may, sir… perhaps it's time we unleash The Silencers."

Thorne didn't answer for a moment. Then, eyes blazing, he whispered, "Do it."

Location: Coastal Refuge – Below the Core

The Storm Gate loomed before them: a circular chamber of spiraling metal, etched with glowing runes from a forgotten age. Energy crackled in its center like a brewing tempest.

Victor stepped forward and placed his palm on the control altar. A voice echoed from the core: "Heir recognized. Storm Gate unlocked."

With a grinding groan, the gate opened—revealing a long, tunnel-like vortex pulsing with energy.

Nora gripped his arm. "Are we sure about this?"

"No," Victor replied with a smirk. "But it's either forward… or death."

Behind them, another explosion rocked the base. The cliff shook. Zuri activated the gate's tunnel stabilizer.

"Go!"

Victor grabbed Nora's hand. Together, with Zuri close behind, they plunged into the light.

The world bent and twisted around them as the Storm Gate closed.

Behind them, Dominion ships rained fire onto the now-abandoned refuge.

But it was too late.

The heir was gone.

And the real war had just begun.
