The metallic clang echoed as Damien, Nora, and Raven descended deep into the restricted zones beneath Skye Fortress. Few knew of the existence of the Phoenix Protocol—an ancient contingency developed during the early Kane reign and buried under levels of encryption, even from allies.
"The protocol was never meant to be used," Raven said, his voice tight. "It was the last card. The one your father refused to play even during the Velcrest crisis."
"And that's why we're still vulnerable," Damien answered coldly. "My father believed in restraint. I believe in survival."
They reached a circular chamber encased in magnetic shielding. In its center stood a prism-like core pulsing with crimson light.
Nora stepped forward and placed her hand on the biometric pad. "Initiate Phoenix Protocol. Authorization: Kane-Alpha-One."
A synthetic voice responded, deep and precise.
> "Identity confirmed. Phoenix Protocol unlocked. Awaiting Prime Commander."
Damien stepped up. The system scanned his retina and DNA.
> "Welcome, Commander Kane. Shall we begin the purge?"
He looked to Nora. "Once this starts, there's no going back."
"We crossed that line the moment Voss's name reappeared."

Miles away, a secret control room lit up in red. Dozens of technicians scrambled as digital locks broke themselves open.
"Commander Damien Kane just activated Protocol Phoenix," a tech officer announced.
General Torres leaned forward. "That doesn't exist on our defense grid."
"It does now. And it's rewriting cyber sovereignty boundaries."
Suddenly, screens flashed with the Kane insignia—an ancient phoenix surrounded by flame.

Torres slammed his fist on the table. "He's trying to erase every trace of Voss. He's launching an information war."

Inside the command center of Voss's faction, alerts screamed in red.
"Sir! External intrusion across our AI nodes. It's not military-grade—it's... older. Deep legacy code, predating modern encryption."
The masked figure froze.
"Phoenix," he hissed.
"What's the countermeasure?" asked one of the lieutenants.
"There isn't one," the leader growled. "It was designed to devour anything not tied to the Kane bloodline."
His fists clenched. "Damien's declaring war on the future itself."

As digital feeds poured in from across the globe, Raven and Nora monitored every move. Civilian systems were untouched. But every ghost network tied to Voss's factions flickered, burned, and vanished.
"Seventeen backdoors sealed. Eleven ghost satellites decommissioned," Raven reported.
"Then we hit harder," Damien said, eyes glowing with vengeance. "I'm not just ending Voss. I'm erasing his ideology."
Nora moved beside him. "This will make you a target to every shadow leader in the world."
Damien turned to her slowly. "Then let them come."
His voice, low and calm, echoed across the chamber.
> "Let them all come."
