BAD DREAM (1)

"Thank you."

I said sweetly, my eyes fluttering, although I kept wondering if it looked too fake. The king glanced at me with a faint smile. "Come closer."

I furrowed my brow. But upon seeing him getting impatient, I walked closer to him with caution. He smiled, "Hmm, your name is quite unique."

He stared at me, his gaze sharp and observing. It made me be on guard. I waited for him to say, "How would you like to be a servant?"

I frowned like I was pondering the matter. I didn't want him to think I was desperate or become too suspicious. I made sure my face was etched with uncertainty and excitement.

I turned to the king and replied with pretend excitement, like I was easy to figure out. Someone easy to manipulate. Most powerful individuals like to feel in control.

"Yes. I want to work for you; it would be an honor."
