Chapter 88 – Whispering Roots

I. The echo of the past

In a hidden chamber beneath the ruins of the ancient Yovaren Clan, fragments of scrolls and objects carved with forgotten symbols lay silent. The girl, now named Sora , sat next to Akihiko as Ikari unfolded the documents.

"These texts speak of the time before the Tree's judgment," Ikari explained. "When the Yovaren Clan guarded the true memory, the uncensored history."

Sora stroked one of the pages, and the words seemed to vibrate beneath his fingers.

II. The betrayal that split the root

The scriptures told the story of the clan: protectors of the Tree who, in an attempt to preserve the complete truth, confronted the Twelve Families and the Tree itself. They sought to prevent the memory from being tampered with, but their loyalty earned them oblivion and extermination.

"They accused us of heresy," Sora said in a whisper. "But we just wanted to make sure no one erased our true roots."

Akihiko nodded, understanding the weight of the heritage they both shared.

III. The broken pact

Legends spoke of an ancient pact between the clans and the Tree. The Yovaren Clan was the first to break it, attempting to change the course of history and release repressed memories.

"That's why the Tree punished them," Ikari continued. "Not with death, but with oblivion. Eternal exile."

Sora closed his eyes, remembering the pain of lost generations.

IV. A Call from the Shadows

Meanwhile, at Kurobane Fortress, Naomi received disturbing news: several minor clans were beginning to abandon the Twelve Families, drawn by the idea of an ancient and forbidden power.

"The Wounded One and his shadow are shifting the balance," Naomi said.

" Are we ready for the coming war?"

Renjirō stared at her.

—No. But we should be.

V. Sora's Awakening

Deep within the city, Sora began to manifest abilities that surprised even Akihiko. He could sense living history, projecting it in fragments others couldn't see, like specters of forgotten memories.

"The Tree doesn't just remember," she said. "It can also show what was silenced."

Akihiko prepared to learn from his sister and together face the coming storm.

VI. The future at the root

The sap of the Tree began to move with greater force, spreading beneath the cities and fields, intertwining destinies and causing irreversible changes.

The battle would not only be for power, but for truth.

For memory. For roots.
