Chapter 68 - Where did this come from?

The soul guide shield was open, isolating the rain and strong wind from outside, but everyone could still clearly hear the sound of raindrops falling on the shield.

The rain gradually grew heavier, the dark clouds in the sky kept rolling, the waves were getting higher and there was the eye of a storm gathering not far away. Those strong winds were about to turn into a tornado and destroy everything.

Xu Mingxi and the Great Elders took turns attacking, and they didn't know how many huge waves they'd break before the Shark Tooth could continue sailing the seas.

However, human strength was limited, and natural disasters could not be resisted by human strength, at least not by beings below the level of gods on the Douluo Continent.

Xu Mingxi and the Great Elder breathed lightly. Their spiritual power was almost depleted, so they immediately sat cross-legged on the boat to recuperate.

The eighth and ninth elders were still unsure if they could withstand the soul guide shield, so they needed to store up some soul power to prevent any accidents.

Without the two of them to break through the huge waves, Shark Tooth was forced to stay where it was. As the waves rose and fell, everyone on the ship was terrified. Everyone except Song Jiang was escorted back to the cabin by Xu Mingxi. They would only be a burden if they stayed there.

Only farmer Miao was unwilling to return, arguing that he should always hold the helm well and watch the weather outside at all times to prevent any special changes.

The waves were blown by the strong winds, and the sea water became turbulent due to the fierceness of the storm. The wind howled, the waves roared, and the Shark Tooth shook violently in the storm.

Suddenly a huge wave crashed over, and Xu Mingxi's Fiery Sun Cannon only caused a small ripple on it, which he immediately swallowed.

He quickly put the Miao peasants into the cabin, took out the ducks, and told them to close the doors and windows and not leave the cabin until the storm stopped.

Then he grabbed Song Jiang and Shui Fu and followed the grand elder into the power room.

They had to keep Shark Tooth's soul guide shield at maximum state at all times. For the rest, they could only trust the defensive power of this long-distance soul guide tool.

The huge waves swallowed the Shark Tooth whole, and the seawater completely enveloped it. The underwater currents were swift and turbulent, rolling up mud and various sea animals in the water. The Shark's Tooth seemed to be propelled by great energy, and it was unknown where it went.

Everyone in the cabin gathered in a small room, leaning against the wall. The sounds produced by the various objects and sea soul beasts hitting the soul guide shield were truly terrifying.

As the one with the highest soul power present, Song Yu attempted to calm the panicked crowd and led them in praying that Master Xu would lead them safely away from this natural disaster.

Xu Mingxi in the power room had already turned grim. To keep the soul guide shield at maximum power, two people had to input soul power together.

The Eighth Elder and Ninth Elder had spent too much of their soul power and were resting. Shufu helped them recover their soul force.

The people inputting soul power now were the Great Elder and Song Jiang. The Great Elder was fine, but Song Jiang would definitely not be able to last long, and then Xu Mingxi would have to take his place.

No one knew when the storm would stop, and no one dared to say that they would survive this natural disaster. All they could do was try their hardest to fight for a chance to survive.

As time passed, Song Jiang and Shui Fu had fallen to the ground, exhausted. The eighth and ninth Elders, with trembling bodies, sat in meditation to recover their spiritual strength.

Xu Mingxi and the Great Elder were still trying their hardest to maintain the soul guide shield. They could feel the impact on the Shark's Tooth already beginning to lessen. If they held on a little longer, they would definitely survive.

Both of them were panting, squeezing out the last of the soul power in their bodies. The Great Elder was the first to pass out, and the other three elders began to take turns.

Xu Mingxi had been sitting in front of the power core, injecting soul power into it. He had drunk three immortal elixirs, and his martial soul had undergone two evolutions. He was also blessed with a hundred thousand year old soul ring and soul bone, which made him more durable than the Great Elder, a Titled Douluo.

By the time his soul power was completely depleted, he finally sensed that Shark Tooth had entered a stable state. Seeing that the Great Elder was still strong, and the other two elders were also awake beside him, he fell to the ground in relief.

Opening his eyes again, Xu Mingxi reached out and touched his body. He was still alive, still here. That's good, that's good.

He was already deep inside his room, and his soul power had actually increased to level 86. This storm was not without merit at all.

When he exited the cabin, the crew greeted him with smiles on their faces. They were able to survive this time thanks to Master Xu.

Xu Mingxi nodded in response and jumped straight to the observation deck. He then saw that they were now docked on a large deserted island with a crimson mountain at its center. What blew into their faces wasn't the salty, fishy sea breeze, but rather a breath that burned and made their skin sting.

"Grandfather, what are you doing for us?"

"I don't know, but that mountain should be an active volcano. The air is filled with the smell of volcanic lava."

"Then should we leave now?"

"No, let's go to the volcano and have a look. According to the sect's records, this volcano in the ocean is likely to grow a precious medicine called Wenyan Grass.

Although this herb has fire attributes, it has mild medicinal properties and is a great tonic for soul experts. You have just squeezed your body madly, and this herb can make up for the deficiencies in your body."

Xu Mingxi and the great elder set off alone, their soul power enveloping their bodies, enduring the hot breath released by the volcano, and soon reached the top of the crater.

The Great Elder scanned the entire interior of the volcano, and suddenly his eyes lit up. He saw the Warm Flame Grass plant at the bottom, but it was growing next to the magma.

The bubbling magma was not enough to stop the Great Elder, but the possible danger contained within it made him hesitate.

"Grandpa, how do I pick this Wenyan grass?"

"Just cut it from the root. The roots are useless."

"Okay."

A string made of starlight condensed in Xu Mingxi's hand. Its front end turned into a sharp blade and extended towards the Wenyan grass. Who said you had to use your hands to pick herbs?

The two men stared intently at the lava. Just as Xu Mingxi was about to succeed, a tongue full of spikes suddenly came out of the lava and directly smashed Xu Mingxi's starlight rope to pieces.

As I suspected, there was a soul creature. The two of them weren't at all afraid of the tongues that attacked them after the rope broke. The Great Elder instantly opened his martial soul true body, gripped the tongue with his huge star hand, and violently pulled out the soul beast hidden under the magma.

"A 30,000-year-old lava toad? No wonder it can be pulled out so easily."

Xu Mingxi's sixth soul skill flashed, and flakes of moonlight appeared, instantly suffocating the lava toad that was pulled into the air. What surprised him was that the soul beast actually had a piece of exploded left leg bone, but it was too young.

He kept the soul bone and used the Starlight Rope again. This time no soul beast could stop him. It picked the Warm Fire Grass and preserved the roots so that it would grow again in a few hundred years.

The two returned to the boat, and Xu Mingxi handed the soul bone to his grandfather to absorb, but he immediately refused. The great elder could sense that his potential was almost exhausted. It would be a waste for him to absorb this soul bone, so it was better to leave it to some outstanding youngster in the sect.

Xu Mingxi knew what his grandfather meant and stopped trying to persuade him. He picked up the Wenyan Grass and sat cross-legged in the room to practice, making up for his previous defeat.
