Chapter 72 - The Gate of Inheritance

Back at the hotel, Xu Mingxi didn't hear the news he wanted from the three elders, and the four of them sat looking at each other.

"Eighth Elder, I want to trouble you to come with me to the mayor's house tonight. Maybe we can find something there."

Xu Mingxi broke the awkward atmosphere. The four of them were a team that could even invade Mingdu, but they didn't have any advantages in this small town.

As night fell, Xu Mingxi and Eighth Elder changed into sleeping clothes to do bad things and fell from the sky onto the wall of the mayor's mansion.

The Eighth Elder stretched out his hand, and fragments of starlight fell from his hand and drifted into the mayor's house with the wind.

The mayor and his family were mesmerized by the starlight and had no strength to resist. They all entered a deeper sleep and did not wake up easily.

The two men entered the mayor's house and began searching for clues by rummaging through the drawers, but the results disappointed them. This was just the home of an ordinary soul master and there was nothing special about it.

Xu Mingxi even touched and knocked everywhere, but there was no such thing as a secret room in the house. Everything seemed to indicate that the mayor was just an ordinary soul master.

"Eighth Elder, let's go back first. The mayor shouldn't have anything to do with inheritance."

"Alright, Mingxi, don't worry. We still have time and we can look for him slowly."

Xu Mingxi returned to the hotel and lay down on the bed. He always felt that something was wrong today, but he couldn't explain it. He seemed to be thinking about it, but it was only for a moment. It was really uncomfortable.

Covering his face with a pillow and closing his eyes, Xu Mingxi emptied his mind and slowly fell asleep.

"Strange, I didn't practice last night, this shouldn't be right. Could it be that I was tossed around in the sea for too long, and I became lazy after relaxing?" When

Xu Mingxi walked out of the room, he saw the three elders standing at the door.

"Elder, what are you doing?"

"Mingxi, there seems to be something wrong with this city. Although our potential is almost depleted, we've maintained the habit of practicing at night instead of sleeping for decades. However, an unexpected change occurred last night. The three of us chose to sleep at the same time. This is impossible."

The three elders' words shocked Xu Mingxi. He felt that way upon waking up, and back then he thought it was just an illusion.

After hearing what the elders said, he immediately realized that yesterday there had indeed been a dispute in that town. How dare a small town be named Sun and Moon? Weren't they afraid that the noble officials of the Sun and Moon Empire would cause trouble for them?

After all, those ordinary residents actually all knew that the royal family had the Sun Spirit and the Silver Moon Spirit. Was this something that ordinary people could know?

There seemed to be something strange everywhere in this small town, so everyone split up and decided to investigate thoroughly today, otherwise, they wouldn't feel comfortable living in this town anymore.

If only Xu Mingxi hadn't considered that the sign led to this place and everyone here might be believers, he would have used special means long ago. If he could get the inheritance, the death of a few people wouldn't be a problem.

The three elders each chose one direction, and Xu Mingxi stood directly above the city, facing the entire city.

"Huh."

Xu Mingxi turned around and noticed that the layout of Riyue City was actually the moon half wrapped in the sun.

He felt that he was getting closer and closer to the truth, but was still lacking one final step, and that final step would probably be putting up a flag in front of every household.

Xu Mingxi fell from a great height and immediately chose the lucky person. He came to the front of the flag and observed it intently. Not daring to uproot it for fear of affecting his inheritance, he touched it with his hand and found that the material was no different from that of an ordinary flag.

"Isn't this just an ordinary flag? There's no difference except for the pattern."

Pattern?

Xu Mingxi seemed to realize something and immediately flew high into the sky. With pen and paper in hand, he recorded the locations of the two flags in the city.

The number of both types of flags in the city was the same, but the arrangement was random. But after recording, it was discovered that the houses with flags formed two patterns in the city, one sun pattern and one silver moon pattern.

Xu Mingxi's eyes lit up. Should he put the appropriate flag into the appropriate place? He flew down and was about to take action, but just as he was about to touch the flag, he stepped back.

What if the actual situation is not like this? What if the silver moon pattern is inserted with the sun flag? If we make a mistake, we will lose the inheritance completely.

Xu Mingxi withdrew his hand. He needed to gather more clues to support his guess. Just now, when he took off from the air to observe the city, he discovered that the mayor's house was at the center of the intersection of the two patterns.

Night gradually fell. Due to the unexplained sleeping situation last night, everyone decided to stop sleeping during this period. No one liked this feeling of loss of control.

The four of them put their sleeping clothes back on, and the three elders searched the houses with flags one by one, while Xu Mingxi came to the mayor's house again.

After beating the mayor unconscious and searching the entire house again, Xu Mingxi still found nothing. He then turned his attention to the sun flag hanging on the mayor's door.

The material and pattern of this flag was no different from the flags in front of ordinary townspeople's houses. Xu Mingxi stared at it for a long time while floating in the air.

Until the dark clouds cleared and the moonlight shone on the flag, Xu Mingxi had a flash of inspiration, and the first soul ring was lit. Pieces of moonlight essence descended with the boundless starlight and fell on the sun flag.

As expected, seeing the silver moon pattern appear on the flag in front of him, Xu Mingxi rose to a height and exerted all his strength, and the entire city suddenly became brightly lit.

On the houses at the location of the sun pattern in the city, all the flags turned into sun flags. The sunlight went out, and a beam of moonlight fell from the sky, landing on the flag on the other side, and then a silvery moon appeared.

The four of them gathered in the center of the city, standing in the sky, watching the white mist billowing from the mayor's house until it covered the entire city. With their powers, they were completely unable to see anything through the white mist.

Xu Mingxi had been staring at the white mist below, but he felt something and stretched out his hand, and specks of light intertwined with gold and silver fell on his hand.

He suddenly raised his head and was shocked to see the scene in the sky. The scorching sun and the cold silver moon appeared at the same time.

The moonlight and sunlight illuminated the white mist at the same time, and the white mist gradually thinned and slowly disappeared.

Under the gaze of the four people's astonished eyes, the entire city simply disappeared. The gold and silver light interlaced, and a magnificent gate was built in the center of the city. A black vortex in the center of the gate kept spinning, as if attracting people to enter.
