Chapter 26: Shut Up, You Damn Woman!

"Giyu-san! Giyu-san! Where are you trying to take me?!"

Tomioka Giyu ignored her and hurried forward.

Behind him followed a petite and exquisite, graceful and charming young girl.

Not long ago, Shinobu Kocho was treating patients at the Butterfly Mansion when Giyu suddenly came to visit. He only said one sentence, "Come with me", and left in a hurry.

As the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, swordsmen of his level rarely get injured. Because if he ever encountered an enemy who could injure him, it would mean his life was also in danger.

At that time, the place he would end up at wouldn't be the Butterfly Mansion of the Demon Slayer Corps, but the back mountain of the Corps.

Aside from the Wind Hashira who occasionally drops by, the other Hashira basically never set foot here.

So Giyu's sudden visit surprised Shinobu, and she thought something serious might've happened.

Thus, she hurried to follow behind him. However, no matter how many times she asked Giyu along the way, he said not a single word, just silently kept moving forward.

His complete inability to respond like a human being made the faint smile at the corners of Shinobu's lips start to look a bit creepy.

"Hello hello, Giyu-san, can you hear me?"

She wore a haori with butterfly wing patterns. As she lightly moved, it fluttered gently. Bathed in the silvery moonlight, she looked just like a crystal-clear butterfly.

Giyu's complete lack of response made the girl's eyes, filled with purple mist, narrow slightly.

"Giyu-san, you're still the same. You really should try harder to communicate with others…" Shinobu sighed lightly. "It's exactly because of this that everyone dislikes you."

Giyu's body seemed to flinch slightly as he rushed forward. He turned his head with a blank expression and seriously replied, "I'm not disliked…"

Shinobu sighed again, "You really have no self-awareness, do you."

"Where exactly are you taking me, Giyu-san? Please tell me."

Giyu fell silent again. What he was doing violated the Corps' rules, he couldn't speak of it. If he did, given Shinobu's nature, she definitely wouldn't have come along.

From the girl's clear and crisp voice, it was obvious that her patience was nearing its limit.

Fortunately, the location where Jotaro and the others were was getting closer and closer.

"This is the place."

Leaving only that sentence behind, Giyu leapt down from a tree. Seeing this, Shinobu followed closely behind.

The tree branches shook slightly. The snow piled atop them gently fell, along with the petite and exquisite figure of the girl.

She was as light as a swallow. Her delicate feet stepped on the snow, leaving only a shallow footprint.

So many people gathering in the forest in the middle of the night made Shinobu a little surprised. But very quickly, a bright smile appeared on her face as she greeted everyone warmly.

"Why is everyone gathering here in the middle of the night? It's dangerous, scary things might appear."

Shinobu smiled cheerfully and looked like a very approachable person.

"Ugh, ugh…"

Nezuko's painful and struggling voice sounded especially harsh in the silent forest. Her slightly opened mouth revealed sharp fangs. The bulging veins on her body formed strange and frightening patterns.

"However, it seems like you've already encountered something scary." Shinobu's voice was soft, and the smile on her face faded.

She suddenly drew a fine blade with a barbed tip. Her light body leapt up, intending to rush toward Nezuko. But her body was blocked by Giyu's arm.

She held back her anger and said, "Giyu-san, why are you stopping me? Killing demons is our duty, what you're doing violates the Corps' rules."

This sudden change made Tanjiro's entire family tense up. "Nezuko is not a demon!"

Tanjiro bowed his head and pleaded, "You must be the person Giyu-san mentioned who runs the Butterfly Mansion. Please, save my sister!"

"So that's it. She used to be your family," Shinobu showed a sympathetic expression.

She had seen scenes like this countless times before. Without exception, those who became demons, whether family or strangers, would eventually treat others as their food.

"Don't worry. I'll let your sister pass peacefully. She won't feel any pain." Even such cruel words, she spoke with a smile.

Tanjiro was so frightened he stepped back two steps and said, "Nezuko was attacked by an evil demon. I'm begging you, save her! Nezuko hasn't eaten anyone and never will. She's not a demon!"

"She hasn't eaten anyone because she hasn't fully awakened. Evil demons simply can't suppress their hunger." Shinobu still smiled, but now her smile looked both sorrowful and angry.

It was not a genuine smile, but a forced one. A twisted smile that made people feel pity.

"In order to survive, demons are completely irrational. They only hunt others by instinct."

Standing silently in the distance, Jotaro listened to the girl's words and frowned. He was clearly growing impatient.

"A demon that doesn't eat people?" Shinobu's voice carried a hint of disdain, with a tone of mockery. Her once-gentle eyes turned dark and gloomy.

"If there truly exists a demon that chooses to starve rather than eat people, I'm willing to care for her with compassion until the end…"

"You damn woman, shut up already!"

They didn't bring her here to listen to her ramble on with a bunch of high-minded nonsense, Jotaro had had enough.

Shinobu stood dumbfounded, her misty violet eyes staring unblinkingly at the tall man standing not far away.

After a long moment, she asked with a faint smile, "Sir, were you speaking to me just now?"

Jotaro, hearing this, simply turned his face away, not even bothering to look at her.

Shinobu smiled at the corners of her mouth, but a vein seemed to bulge on her forehead. "Sir, what do you mean by that?"

Jotaro sighed and helplessly replied, "Can't you tell? This is my 'speechless expression.'"

"You damn woman, we didn't ask you here to listen to some long-winded lecture. Quit acting so high and mighty."

In Jotaro's opinion, teachers should teach properly, and doctors should treat patients properly, don't act like you're above everyone else all the time.

Those teachers who couldn't even teach well but loved to lecture students from some moral high ground. In reality, they never followed those same rules when they were students themselves.

For those "hypocritical moral-preacher" teachers, Jotaro would beat them up hard, making sure they'd never dare show up at school again.

To him, the girl just now was exactly that kind of self-important, low-level person.

The person wasn't even treated yet, and she was already lecturing on and on, that kind of person, Jotaro absolutely couldn't tolerate. He would show no mercy to people like that.
