Chapter 5

When school ended at noon, students began packing up for lunch or heading home.

Ethan Kane stood in front of the mirror in the restroom, taking a moment to observe himself.

A pair of blood-red Sharingan spun faintly in his left eye.

Even with his powers retracted, the aura lingered.

It was hard to believe… but he'd really come this far.

From being an ordinary student in America to suddenly transmigrating into this anime-like world, with powers from multiple dimensions in his grasp.

He clenched his fists.

The Chakra Pill had strengthened him immensely—his energy had stabilized, and his Sharingan was now fully controllable.

"Let's not get carried away," Ethan muttered to himself.

He didn't want to expose his full power just yet. This world might seem peaceful, but who knew what else existed beneath the surface?

---

Just as he stepped out of the restroom, a voice called to him.

"Ethan Kane, wait up!"

It was Takanashi Rikka, still wearing her signature eyepatch.

She dashed up to him, slightly out of breath, and held out a small, hand-made notebook wrapped in black cloth and ribbons.

"This is the sacred contract scroll of the Evil King's True Eye. I updated our soul-binding pact!"

"…You made this in the past ten minutes?"

"Mhm! I also added flame seals and runes from the Abyss of Mirrored Night!"

Ethan chuckled. "You really go all in, huh?"

"Of course," Rikka said proudly. "A pact without artistic integrity is no pact at all."

He accepted the scroll with a grin and tucked it in his bag.

Their conversation might've sounded like gibberish to anyone else, but between them, it felt natural.

Still, a few girls passing by looked on with conflicted expressions.

Xiangmu Nan stood nearby with two of her followers. She crossed her arms, her gaze darkening.

"Hmph. Playing make-believe again…"

But even she had to admit—when Ethan did it, it somehow looked… cool?

"Should we go to the convenience store?" Rikka asked.

Ethan was about to nod when he felt a pair of eyes staring at him from across the hallway.

He turned—and spotted Kato Megumi.

As always, her presence was so faint it was easy to miss. But right now, she was standing perfectly still, her phone in hand, watching him with a calm, unreadable expression.

For just a second, their eyes met.

Then she turned away and walked down the hallway alone.

She noticed me.

Ethan was slightly stunned.

That had to mean something, right?

---

Later that afternoon, Ethan returned home—still thinking about the events at school.

He had already started to understand how the system worked: completing interactions, building relationships, increasing favorability—those were all tied to points.

And points meant power.

After entering his room, he shut the door, opened the system panel, and brought up the mall again.

---

System Mall - Limited-Time Offers

[300 Points Available]

He'd already spent all his points on the Chakra Pill earlier, so now he was back to zero. But with Rikka's favorability reward, he'd gained another 300 points total.

Let's see what's worth grabbing this time.

His eyes scanned the list.

---

[Observation Haki]

From the One Piece universe. Grants heightened perception, limited future sight, and awareness of hidden threats.

Cost: 300 Points

Useful… but maybe too early.

---

[Super Soldier Serum (MCU Variant)]

Grants enhanced physique, stamina, regeneration, and perfect mental clarity.

Cost: 300 Points

Tempting.

---

[Basic Ki Control]

From the Dragon Ball universe. Allows user to gather and manipulate Ki for enhanced strikes, flight, and aura projection.

Cost: 300 Points

"Hmm…"

Ethan hesitated.

He liked the versatility of Ki Control—offense, movement, aura. It seemed the most practical.

Selected: Basic Ki Control

Confirm Exchange?

Confirm

A warm golden glow surrounded him briefly before vanishing.

A rush of foreign energy surged through his core—lighter than chakra, yet fiercer, more explosive.

"Ki, huh?"

He could feel the difference.

Chakra flowed like water. Ki sparked like lightning.

I'll need to train with this. But even now, he could tell—his power had doubled in potential.

---

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

He opened the door and blinked.

Totsuka Saika stood there, holding two boxed lunches.

"Ah, I thought you might not have eaten yet," Saika said with a shy smile. "I made an extra bento."

Ethan paused. "...You cooked?"

"Y-Yeah. It's simple, but... I wanted to try."

Ethan took the box and bowed slightly. "Thanks. That's really kind of you."

"No problem," Saika said brightly. "You seemed like someone who might forget to eat."

Too pure… Ethan thought.

---

They ate together, chatting about school, club activities, and lunch preferences.

But halfway through, Ethan received a system alert.

---

[Ding~]

[Totsuka Saika's favorability: +10]

[Total Points: +50]

Wait, even guys gave favorability?

He's just that adorable, huh?

---

That night, Ethan lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

He had Sharingan, Chakra, and now Ki Control.

He'd started forming connections with Rikka and even Saika. Kato Megumi had acknowledged him. And he was slowly figuring out the world's rules.

A system like this wasn't just for power. It was for living life in a way he never could before.

And tomorrow?

Tomorrow, he'd find a way to get closer to Kato Megumi.

Because somewhere deep inside him, he had a feeling:

Her treasure chest might be more than A-rank.
