Chapter 18: Burn to Ashes, Spider Woman!

The spider claw blade looked fierce, but it failed to even scratch Ethan Kane!

"A-Amazing… Is this American combat training?"

Kirisu Mafuyu was stunned.

Her only knowledge of supernatural forces came from vague rumors—old urban legends. While she had heard whispers of spiritualists in Japan, they couldn't compare to this terrifying level of raw power!

"How can you see through my every move?!"

Spider-Woman's voice trembled. "Those eyes... Sharingan? But... those were just cosmetic lenses—weren't they?!"

Sagami Minami's shocked voice cut through the clash of blows. She remembered now—on Ethan's very first day, he declared he had the Sharingan to match Rikka Takanashi's "Evil King's True Eye."

Everyone had laughed it off as a chuunibyou joke.

They were wrong.

"Bang!"

One of Spider-Woman's clawed forelimbs cracked under Ethan's punch. She screamed in agony.

"Is this really all?" Ethan scoffed. "Even corrupted freaks are weak if they were nobodies to begin with."

He had only used thirty percent of his strength—but even that proved too much.

"Damn you human!!"

Driven to madness, Spider-Woman began draining Sagami Minami's life force at full throttle.

"W-Wait! No—!"

Sagami's eyes widened with horror. Her face withered, her skin turned pale and dry, and gray streaks overtook her hair.

"She's draining her host…"

Kirisu Mafuyu's heart twisted. Despite everything, Sagami Minami had been her student. No teacher wanted to see their student end up like this.

"This is the price of giving yourself to darkness," Ethan said flatly. "She chose this."

The possessed Sagami grew larger by the second, bursting through the hotel ceiling.

BOOM!

The sound thundered across the building. Guests and staff scrambled in panic.

"What the hell was that?!"

"There's something on the roof!"

Kawasaki Saki, still working the front desk, jumped at the noise.

(That's... the room where Kirisu-sensei and Ethan went…?! No way!)

Kirisu Madoka looked up at the creature in horror. "W-What do we do now?"

Ethan glanced up with an unbothered sigh.

"Don't worry, Kirisu-sensei. She's not worth worrying about."

"RAAAGHHHH!! I'LL KILL YOU!!!"

Spider-Woman slashed with all her might—but Ethan sidestepped the attack and stomped on her claw, pinning her arm down.

"So dramatic. Let's end this."

His Sharingan spun—three tomoe overlapping and evolving into the six-pointed star of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

"Amaterasu."

Black fire erupted from nowhere—consuming the monster in hellish flames.

"WHAT?! AAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Spider-Woman screamed as her grotesque form burned, twisting and crumbling to ash within seconds.

Left behind was the charred, lifeless body of Sagami Minami.

With a final flick of his eye, Ethan canceled the flames and deactivated his Mangekyō Sharingan.

"Is… that it?"

Kirisu Madoka stared in disbelief. "She was… just gone."

"Yup. That's the Dark Flame Master for you."

Ethan raised a hand dramatically to his forehead.

Kirisu narrowed her eyes. "Say that in front of Rikka, and she'll worship you forever. Please don't."

The tension faded slightly.

"...So there really are monsters out there," she murmured.

Ethan stepped beside her and rested a steady hand on her trembling shoulder.

"I'm here, sensei. You're safe."

Kirisu blinked—her heart fluttered—and for a second, she leaned closer to him...

...before suddenly pulling away, cheeks bright red.

(Wait—no! I'm a teacher!)

[Ding~]

"Ahem." She cleared her throat. "W-What now?"

"We leave. Someone else will clean this up."

He glanced toward the distant street—his psychic sense told him that a mysterious cleanup crew was already en route.

But he wasn't interested in mysterious organizations. Not yet.

"The elevator's broken," Kirisu pointed out, looking toward the smashed lift shaft.

"Then we take the express route," Ethan grinned.

He swept her into a princess carry.

"Wait, wait, wait—WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

Too late.

Ethan leapt off the sixth floor balcony—
