Chapter 64: Finally Taking Charge

Jeros casually put away the copper plate. "This matter is getting more and more complicated. I need to inform Bishop Ron."

Silas asked tentatively, "Was it someone from the Apex Aether Research Institute who killed him?"

Warren shook his head. "Someone else killed him. This plate was his own."

Hearing this, Silas understood the meaning behind Jeros's earlier words.

"You quickly go back and inform Orson Heath. Have him notify Bishop Ron to send two Divine Punishers and three Exorcist Nuns, along with the police, to seal off this place and investigate everyone. I'll temporarily station myself here," Jeros ordered Silas.

"Yes!" Silas, upon receiving the order, quickly left and returned to the police station.

Walking back to the police station, Silas fell into thought.

"The person who killed this magician is most likely from the Green Flame Brotherhood. However, he himself was a member of a cult organization. Two cult organizations have suddenly appeared. So, the question is, could it be that for some reason or because of something, other cult organizations have been attracted here?"

At this thought, Silas's heart skipped a beat. "If that's the case, doesn't it mean the entire Bayne City is about to descend into chaos?"

Awooo!

The Husky seemed to sense Silas's mood and let out a very concerned bark.

Silas patted its head, feeling inexplicably more at ease.

After quickly returning to the police station, Silas recounted the entire incident.

Orson Heath immediately nodded upon hearing it. "No problem, I'll go over right now."

Silas nodded, then prepared to leave.

"Wait a moment, I have another task for you," Orson suddenly said.

"Another task?" Silas was taken aback.

Orson nodded. "The highest priority right now is definitely Master Jeros's side. However, we just received a report that a patrol officer at the Bayne City Museum suddenly went mad. Since the problem isn't too severe, we can't apply for a Church investigation yet, so we can only ask you to go take a look at the situation and determine if there are any mystical signs."

With that, Orson patted Silas's shoulder and said seriously, "You've been with the police station for some time now. Although it's still a bit early, in these extraordinary times, you must accelerate your improvement. You will be solely responsible for this case. Apart from the heads of other cases, the remaining police force will go to support Master Jeros."

Hearing this, Silas suddenly felt a surge of excitement and said with a serious expression, "Rest assured, Deputy Chief Heath!"

Orson nodded, turned, and quickly left with a gust of wind.

Silas took a deep breath, walked back to his seat, took out his police badge, which he had never used and symbolized his identity, and thought to himself, "After following others for so long, I'm finally going to take charge. I hope it's an ordinary case that I can complete outstandingly!"

"Don't feel any burden, just go for it! I was like this my first time too." Jack, who had gotten the news from somewhere, came over to offer encouragement, then put on his overcoat and hurriedly left.

Roland still seemed to have something on her mind, her face somewhat haggard, but she still managed an encouraging smile. "Good luck, have confidence in yourself."

With that, she also quickly left.

Silas looked at Roland, thinking to himself, "What's wrong with her? This isn't how someone preparing for a wedding should look or feel."

"Forget it, I should take care of myself first!" Silas said, then picked up his cane and quickly left with the Husky.

The West City Police Station was quite a distance from the City Museum in the south. Since Silas was alone, he couldn't apply for a carriage from the police station. Therefore, fifteen days after arriving here, he finally rode the city's steam locomotive for the first time.

"I'm sorry, sir, your pet is too large and cannot board," the female ticket conductor in a blue overcoat said politely at the entrance of the twenty-meter-long steam locomotive.

Silas immediately took out his police badge. "Lupo is a police dog. He is very intelligent and will not disturb any other passengers. Please rest assured."

"Police dog?" The ticket conductor glanced at Lupo, then focused more on the police badge.

After confirming the authenticity of the badge, the ticket conductor politely allowed them to pass.

Fortunately, it was past the morning rush hour, and there weren't many people on board.

The interior configuration was very similar to a bus, but there weren't many standing spots; seats were more prevalent.

Because of the expensive price, there wouldn't be too many people on the vehicle.

After paying 30 Lang cents, Silas felt his pocket; only 5 Lang cents remained.

"I need to quickly find the finance department for reimbursement when I get back," Silas grumbled inwardly.

The Husky squatted obediently beside him, neither barking nor wandering around, its bright eyes curiously observing everything.

The ticket conductor stared at it for a full ten minutes. After ensuring that this beautiful large dog wouldn't move around, she breathed a sigh of relief.

The other passengers on the vehicle initially had some reservations about Lupo, but after five minutes, they were completely won over by Lupo's intelligence and goofy expressions.

"Truly worthy of being a police dog!" these elite individuals sighed inwardly.

The journey didn't have many stops, and the operating noise wasn't as loud as Silas had imagined.

Twenty minutes later, Silas adjusted his hat and church robe, then disembarked from the steam locomotive with Lupo. Before him was a tall building.

First, there was a neat, wide flight of stairs. Atop the stairs were four pristine white stone pillars, carved with exquisite reliefs.

Inside the pillars was a wide front courtyard, used to shelter people from wind and rain. Further in was the classical and exquisite main entrance.

There weren't many people at the museum today. At the main entrance stood two security guards in black cotton overcoats, holding batons.

Silas walked over with the Husky and directly stated his identity and purpose.

Upon seeing Silas's police badge and the church robe he wore, the two security guards instantly looked relieved and happy.

"You're finally here! Joseph suddenly went mad and scared us all," the taller security guard said with a happy expression.

Silas asked, "Where is he now? How did you handle him?"

The slightly chubbier security guard beside him said, "We subdued him together with the cleaning staff, then tied him up and put him in the storeroom."

"Take me to see him!" Silas said immediately.

"Please come in and wait a moment; I'll go get the curator."

Silas nodded slightly and walked into the museum. The spacious hall was divided into three floors, with spiral staircases and surrounding corridors. There were numerous glass display cases around, containing various items.

Silas roughly looked around; there were items of all sizes.

Small items included compasses, damaged watches, books, and even pistols and glasses.

Large items even included steam engines, cannons, and complex cogwheel guns.

Due to the problem, the entire museum had been temporarily closed, and the main hall was very deserted.

Silas casually took a few steps, and suddenly heard some faint sounds in his ears.

"Save me… Save me…"
