Chapter 76: The Demonesses' New Identities

Silas spent the entire time in his dream analyzing the relationship between the bell toll and spiritual energy.

Feeling his consciousness about to awaken, Silas organized the important intelligence he had gathered during this time, sat on the throne, and closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the familiar ceiling. Turning his head slightly, he saw the Husky squatting beside him, its mouth open, looking at him.

His neck still throbbed with pain, but his spirit had noticeably improved, and his thoughts were even more agile.

"After in-depth learning through the divine vision in the dream, the analyzed knowledge will also indirectly affect my thinking and brain in the real world. If this continues, perhaps one day, my brain can be on par with the deity in the dream."

"Well, at this rate, it won't take too long, about a hundred thousand years should be enough…"

After teasing himself a bit, Silas sat up and heard two female voices faintly talking in the living room.

"Ada, who's the other one?" Silas got out of bed with a curious expression, put on his cotton slippers, pushed open the door, and walked out.

In the living room, Ada was happily chatting with a nun dressed in an armored robe, with a somewhat androgynous appearance, two short knives at her waist, looking valiant and heroic.

Upon seeing Silas, the nun's face showed a gratified smile. "Since Silas is alright, I should be going too."

Ada immediately looked regretful. "Respected Sister Marlene, it has been my honor to talk with you for so long."

Sister Marlene smiled upon hearing this. "I am the one who feels honored. For the Goddess to have such a believer in the mortal world fills my heart with hope and light."

Silas thanked her, "Thank you for bringing me back, uh… Sister."

"Hehe…" Hearing this address, Marlene smiled. "Just call me Marlene."

With that, Marlene looked at the bruises on Silas's neck. "Your bravery, your loyalty, we have all witnessed. For this effort and risk, you will receive a rich reward in the near future."

People are realistic, even devout nuns like Marlene. They knew very well that faith alone could not win a person's true loyalty.

However, faith + benefits could.

Silas, hearing this, said with a smile, "This is all what I should do; it is my duty."

"Your intelligence is crucial. Master Jeros is now fully in charge of this matter. You should rest at home for now. I should be leaving too; the farm still needs my help." Marlene prepared to leave after speaking.

After Silas and Ada saw Marlene off, Ada looked at Silas with a worried expression. "Shouldn't a detective's job be relatively safe? How did you get so seriously injured?"

"There's no other way. At critical moments, I still have to fight the villains. Otherwise, many innocent citizens would die an untimely death," Silas made an illustrative analogy.

"Quick, sit down. Let me clean it for you again," Ada said, taking out the first-aid kit. She used tweezers to hold some cotton wool, dipped it in medical alcohol, and applied it to the wound on Silas's neck.

Looking at Ada's beautiful and serious face, so close, Silas teased, "It's a pity you're a nun. Otherwise, I believe the person who marries you would be the happiest person in the world."

Ada's eyes narrowed into a warm smile. "Thank you for your compliment, but I have already decided to dedicate everything I have to the Goddess."

"Haha, why are you back so early today?" It was only a little past two in the afternoon; normally, Ada wouldn't be home until six.

"I liaised with the city government today about the work with the homeless. The abbess specially approved my leave for this. I can go home directly after finishing." Ada's tone was light, and she seemed to be in a very good mood.

After applying the medicine, Silas stood up and admonished, "Ada, you should still keep some distance from those homeless people. There are all sorts of people among them. It's okay to help, but don't get too close."

Ada patted Silas's head. "Don't worry, kind little fellow, I know my limits."

As the two were talking, the doorbell rang.

"Who could it be at this time? It shouldn't be Evan," Ada said, turning to open the door.

The door opened. Silas first heard Ada's gentle and polite inquiry, then Bart's voice.

He quickly turned and walked over, just in time to see Bart and Jik standing at the door, Bart eyeing Ada with a somewhat strange look.

"Ada! Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Bart Phil (yes, this is a superficial alias), the merchant from the Allied Empire for whom I previously acted as a translator," Silas quickly stepped forward to introduce.

He instinctively didn't want the pure Ada to come into contact with these twisted things.

Ada, understanding, said enthusiastically, "Please come in, Mr. Phil!"

Bart took off his hat, bowed politely, and said in the language of the Allied Empire, "Hello, beautiful and pure lady. I apologize, but I have something to invite Silas out for. I won't come in for now."

Silas translated for Bart, then turned his head and asked, "What is it?"

Bart said, "Two new colleagues have joined our chamber of commerce. We need your help to familiarize them with the surroundings."

Hearing this, Silas's heart skipped a beat; he knew Bart was talking about the two Demonesses.

Silas immediately turned his head. "Ada, I have a chance to earn some money again. I happen to have some time today. I'll go be their temporary translator. I'll probably be back around six or seven in the evening."

Ada, understanding, nodded. "Alright, go ahead. Remember to be polite and honest, and don't disgrace our Belant Empire."

Saying this, she walked into the house to prepare Silas's clothes.

Bart, at the door, looked at Ada with a strange expression, but looking at Ada's gentle smile, the strangeness gradually disappeared, finally becoming natural…

In a very ordinary carriage, Silas and Bart sat opposite each other.

"Now is a good opportunity. The police's attention is focused on the farm. I have all the identities ready here."

Saying this, Bart pointed to two boxes beside him.

"Here are their new identification documents, as well as brand new clothes suitable for their identities. There are three sets in total, in three sizes. As long as those two Demonesses don't have overly peculiar figures, they should be able to wear them," Bart said calmly.

Silas, seeing this, said with admiration, "I trust you to handle things. I didn't even think of this aspect."

A hint of pride flashed across Bart's face. He continued, "The identities of the two of them are people from the Guinness Duchy in the northeast of the Belant Empire, who fled due to civil war in their country. Because they were deceived on the way and lost their money and possessions, they wandered here. Afterward, they received relief from our chamber of commerce and are now low-level interns in our chamber of commerce. Due to their low level of education, they are responsible for simple cleaning work."
