Chapter 131: Approaching the Truth

At 4:30 PM, just as the noblewoman was about to wake up, Silas quietly left.

Walking back to the chapel, Silas pondered the clues he had just obtained from Luke.

"A constantly moving formation. Could this formation be on certain people?" Silas frowned, somewhat unable to figure it out.

Runes form techniques, techniques constitute arrays; the entire relationship was very clear. The many magic circles Silas had seen all repeatedly emphasized that formations could not be moved casually. Even moving one millimeter could produce immeasurable consequences.

However, what Luke said today subverted Silas's previous learning.

"I'll go back and ask Ivan!" Silas relaxed his brow and let out a long sigh.

When Silas returned to the entrance of the main chapel and was about to go in, he was stopped by a voice.

Looking up, he happened to see Roland, dressed in casual clothes, looking at him with a smile.

The current Roland looked to be in good spirits. She wore a deerstalker hat, a blue jacket, and grey trousers. Her androgynous attire, combined with her beautiful appearance, gave a refreshing and heroic impression.

"Long time no see, beautiful Ms. Roland." Seeing Roland's current appearance, Silas felt completely relieved.

Roland opened her arms and hugged Silas, then asked with a smile, "Interested in having a drink together?"

"I don't drink much," Silas said truthfully.

"Men who don't drink much are all good men. Then let's go for coffee!" Roland, at this moment, exuded an indescribable sense of freedom and ease.

"Alright!"

Ten minutes later, the two sat down in a restaurant between Holy Blood Square and the financial district.

"What would you two like to eat?" a young, handsome waiter walked over and asked with a smile.

Silas looked up. "Hot coffee, strong, no sugar, add some milk."

The two looked at each other, and Silas paused for a moment.

A hint of hidden surprise flashed in the waiter's eyes. He asked calmly, "Is there a problem, sir?"

Silas smiled. "You look a bit familiar. It's nothing."

"Same here," Roland said.

"Alright, please wait a moment, you two," the waiter said with a smile, turned, and quickly walked into the back kitchen.

In the back kitchen, the waiter walked up to the chef who was grinding coffee, his face gloomy, and said in a low voice, "Sir, that clergyman is here, and Markok's fiancée is with him. It seems they are up to something."

The middle-aged chef paused his coffee bean grinding for a moment, then said, "Everything as usual. Listen to what the two are planning."

"Yes!"

The two in the front hall were still unaware of the real situation here.

"I need your help, Silas. I feel I'm getting a bit closer to the truth," Roland said in a low voice, her expression serious.

Silas lowered his head slightly and asked, "Tell me about it."

Roland glanced around, and after confirming there was no one nearby, she said carefully, "I've been going to the archives frequently lately to check some information, and also to the criminal investigation department to look at some recent cases. I found a problem."

"In the past two weeks, three people have committed suicide for unknown reasons. These people are all elites with certain status, from wealthy families. Under normal circumstances, they have absolutely no reason to commit suicide. But they suddenly did."

Hearing this, Silas nodded, signaling her to continue.

"The interval between the three suicides was exactly four days. After that, I went to the archives. Guess what I found?"

"What?"

"I found that in the past three months, on average, three people committed suicide each month. The ways these people committed suicide were bizarre and varied. Although the interval was not long, there was a certain pattern. What's even stranger is that these suicide cases were not investigated in detail and were all left unresolved, as if someone intentionally covered them up. You know, as a team leader in the criminal investigation department, I hadn't even heard of many of these cases."

"These three months…" Silas fell into deep thought.

Three months ago, that was right around the time the Green Flame Brotherhood incident ended.

"So many suicide incidents, and the Church has no news about it at all," Silas said in a low voice.

Roland nodded and continued, "Today, another lawyer committed suicide. His wife doesn't believe it and secretly found me, asking me to help her investigate. I agreed. But I don't understand anything about mysticism, so I hope you can go to the crime scene with me tomorrow and help me confirm the situation there."

Silas pondered for a moment, then nodded. "No problem. Where is the location?"

"An abandoned factory in the eastern suburbs of the city," Roland said.

"Sir, madam, please enjoy," the waiter said with a smile as he walked over.

"Thank you!" Silas smiled and nodded, taking a small sip of his coffee.

"Hmm? It tastes really good!" Silas's eyes lit up.

The waiter said with a smile, "Of course, this is personally prepared by our boss. I can proudly say that this coffee is the best in all of Bayne, bar none."

Silas's heart stirred. He smiled and asked, "Then your food must be very delicious too."

"Of course, we have many repeat customers," the waiter said proudly.

Silas said with a beaming smile, "Next time, I'll come with an empty stomach to properly savor your boss's skills!"

"Thank you for your support. Please enjoy your meal, you two!" the waiter said after taking a deep breath, then immediately turned to attend to other customers.

After the waiter left, Silas asked in a low voice, "Is there any other news?"

Roland pondered for a moment. "There is some, but there's a lack of information at the moment, so I'm not very sure."

"Tell me about it."

"I investigated the dozen or so people who died in the past three months in detail. Seven of them were believers of the Three Moon Goddess, and six were believers of the Radiant Church. Among the seven believers of the Three Moon Goddess, I can see from the archives that the godfather of two of them was Bishop Ron. The information for the remaining five couldn't be found."

"And…"

Speaking of this, Roland hesitated.

Silas didn't press and waited quietly.

After a few seconds of silence, Roland gritted her teeth. "On the Radiant Church side, out of the six people, the godfather of three of them was Mayor Arnold. The other three are unknown."

Instantly, Silas seemed to have figured something out. He warned with a serious expression, "Don't tell anyone this news, no one except me. Don't act too strangely; just maintain normalcy and try your best to protect your own safety."

"Understood!" Roland nodded vigorously.

Meanwhile, in the back kitchen.

The waiter exhaled the breath he had just inhaled.

And this exhalation carried not just air, but also the lingering sound of Silas and Roland's conversation just now.

Although it was somewhat blurry, some important information could barely be heard.

"Suicide pattern? Tomorrow, the factory in the eastern suburbs of the city?" Hearing this, the corners of the middle-aged man's mouth curled up slightly.

"Raz, take a few people over there. Catch both of them tomorrow," the middle-aged man said casually.

The waiter asked tentatively, "Should we take care of that woman tonight?"

"No need. Both of them are already alert. If we rashly eliminate one, the other will definitely be vigilant. If he hides in the church and doesn't come out, we can't do anything. And don't forget that group of Night Watchers!"
