Chapter 11: Vinsmoke Auction House!
"As long as you have a name. Little Betty, don't sit on the ground anymore, we should get going. Look, your clothes are all torn. Let's get to a city soon so I can buy you new ones."
Hearing Buggy's words, Betty immediately jumped up and quickly asked, "Really?"
It was clear that as long as they were female, regardless of age, they had a special enthusiasm for shopping.
Looking at her fervent gaze, Buggy nodded, and then Betty happily pulled him along as they set off.
A day later, under the guidance of the compass, Buggy, with Betty, finally walked out of the horizontal mountain range and arrived in a city of the Kabas Kingdom.
Similar to the Goa Kingdom in the East Blue, a single country typically had only one city, though this city was considerably larger than Goa Kingdom's.
Bringing Betty into the city, Buggy first found a clothing store and bought a set of clothes for each of them. Then, he quickly found an inn and took Betty inside to wash up.
After a refreshing bath and changing into new clothes, Buggy felt comfortable all over. His height of 187cm wasn't much in the One Piece world, but paired with his solid muscles and handsome blue ponytail, well, if it weren't for that conspicuous red nose and Betty riding on his neck, Buggy felt he would be the focus of female attention no matter how you looked at it.
At 18, he was in his prime. In modern times, it would be the age of youthful camaraderie among students, with many things to do, but the one thing it wouldn't include was raising a child.
Regarding Betty, Buggy was on one hand happy about snatching a future subordinate of Donquixote Doflamingo, but on the other hand, he felt more frustrated.
With a little girl over four years old in tow, it was impossible for him to do anything impulsive. All he could do now was take this little girl, who kept calling him "Big Brother," shopping.
He wasn't doing this because he intended to pamper Betty and give her a wonderful childhood. On the contrary, it was precisely because Buggy had already planned a not-so-great childhood for Betty that he intended to compensate her a little now.
Half a day later, sitting on a chair in a roadside café, Buggy looked at Betty, who was already tired from playing, and shook his head helplessly.
Snapping his fingers, Buggy called a waiter over.
"Sir, do you need anything?" a young man in uniform walked over.
"Do you know where the auction house in the city is? If you can take me there, these are yours," Buggy said, taking out a few Beri notes with a denomination of ten thousand.
"I know, sir. If you can wait a moment, I can take you to the auction house shortly." The young man's eyes lit up instantly upon seeing the large denomination Beri notes, and he replied very respectfully.
"Very good. Take me to the place, and this money is yours." Buggy had also worked part-time before and wouldn't be stingy with working people.
A short while later, the young man, having finished his shift, took Buggy by carriage. After half an hour, they arrived in front of a well-decorated building.
"Sir, this is the Vinsmoke Auction House. It's a property of the Vinsmoke family, the largest auction house in the Kabas Kingdom."
After hearing the young man's introduction, Buggy gave him the promised Beri as a reward, then, holding the already sleeping Betty, walked into the Vinsmoke Auction House.
"Hello, sir. How may I help you?" As soon as he entered, a beautiful receptionist standing by the main door asked Buggy.
"This is an auction house, right? I have some items I need to auction. Could you call your person in charge?" Buggy replied very politely.
"Sir, it's like this: before I call the person in charge, I need to take you to the appraisal department. Only after the appraiser has determined the value of your items can we proceed to the next step."
After hearing the reply, Buggy nodded and followed the receptionist inside.
They didn't walk far before the receptionist led Buggy into a room. After the receptionist left, a meticulously dressed man opened the door and walked in.
"Sir, I wonder what items you need to auction? Could you take them out for me to appraise?" The man didn't waste words and asked directly.
Hearing the man's words, Buggy placed Betty on the sofa, then untied the package on his back and took out the Weapon Fruit he had snatched from Betty.
As soon as Buggy took out the item, the appraiser knew what it was without even needing to take a closer look. People in the North Blue were different from those in the East Blue, especially in such a large auction house; they had handled Devil Fruits before.
"Sir, I wonder if you know what kind of Devil Fruit this is?" The man eventually took it for a look and then asked Buggy.
"Is it necessary to find that out? Or can it not be auctioned if we don't?" Buggy asked, puzzled.
"Sir, please don't misunderstand. I just want to tell you that if you know the ability of this fruit, we can conduct a specialized auction promotion, and the price will be higher. You will gain more. Of course, if you don't know, the price might be slightly lower," the man hurriedly explained after hearing Buggy's question.
"Is that so? But that doesn't seem right. Shouldn't a large auction house like this have a Devil Fruit encyclopedia? How could you not know what ability this fruit has? Don't tell me you don't have one," Buggy continued to ask.
"You must be joking, sir. Of course, we have a Devil Fruit encyclopedia. However, as you know, the Devil Fruit encyclopedia hasn't collected illustrations of all Devil Fruits. Like the one you have in your hand, our encyclopedia has no record of it at all, which is why I asked you."
"Oh, so that's how it is. If I remember correctly, the fruit in my hand should be the Paramecia-type Weapon Fruit. After eating it, your body can transform into various weapons, capable of causing great damage," Buggy rubbed his chin and replied.
"Sir, are you certain?" Hearing this answer, the appraiser suddenly became a little excited and then asked.
"I'm about eighty to ninety percent sure. A fragmented encyclopedia I saw before recorded it this way." Buggy didn't understand why this fellow suddenly got excited, but he bluffed anyway.
"Please wait a moment. I'll go get the manager. He has been looking for a powerful Devil Fruit for a long time. I think he will be very happy to hear this news." After speaking, the man immediately left the room.
A few minutes later, as steady footsteps approached, a man of medium build pushed open the door and walked in.
Looking at the man who walked in, to be honest, Buggy was very surprised.
"Is it you? Are you sure the Devil Fruit in your hand is the Paramecia-type Weapon Fruit?" the man asked Buggy.
"Not entirely sure. If the encyclopedia didn't record it wrong, it should be," Buggy shrugged and replied unhurriedly.
"Kid, are you messing with me?" The man's eyes turned cold, and a murderous intent shot out.
