Chapter 68: Chiyu's Susanoo in Action!

Chiyu had yet to answer, when suddenly he sensed several chakras quickly closing in.

He felt a slight stir in his heart.

Those figures arrived soon enough, and at their head was––

Hatake Kakashi!

Behind him was his own Anbu squad, along with a contingent of Konoha pursuers that included members of the Ino–Shika–Chō families!

Seeing his father reanimated, Kakashi's anger flared, underpinned by grief and indignation.

Chiyu did not object.

He had wanted to face Danzō alone, to eliminate Root all by himself, but Kakashi's plan was also acceptable. Moreover, their justification was indeed watertight.

Akimichi Shito frowned. "So that's the Four Violet Flames Formation?

"That bastard Danzō wants to make Chiyu-sama fight with those Edo Tensei reanimations in mutual destruction, so he can swoop in and reap the benefits…what a mean, underhanded scumbag!"

Kakashi took one look as well.

Kakashi's mind reeled.

"You…what are you talking about?!"

Danzō sneered: "You father-and-son pair of so-called geniuses––in truth, you're both ignorant. You never understood political strife or the workings of high-level interests…

"In my eyes, Hatake Sakumo was no different from Hyūga Hiashi: always ready to be sacrificed as a tool––"

Chiyu gave a cold laugh:

"And you, Danzō, what are you to Hiruzen Sarutobi? Nothing but an old watchdog that can be kicked out at any time?"

Abruptly, Danzō's body shook. He clenched his fists.

A lie can't truly wound you; it's the truth that cuts like a blade. What Danzō just said about White Fang was being flung back at him, returning to cut him to the quick!

His expression twisted hideously, teeth grinding:

"Uchiha Chiyu, I'll make you taste a fate worse than death!"

Kakashi, prompted by Chiyu's words, snapped out of it. Though he hated Danzō, he also realized how Danzō was taunting him; but Chiyu's retort had, in turn, provoked Danzō's own mental break.

"Thank you, Chiyu-sama…"

"Shito, it's time."

Akimichi Shito nodded.

Danzō let out a cold snort. His surviving Root members now spread out in formation to protect him, locking eyes with Kakashi's side.

"Kill!"

At that shout, both groups clashed fiercely!

While Kakashi's side had decent numbers, only his own Anbu squad—some seven or eight members—were truly under his command. And the Ino–Shika–Chō side had precious few elites left: most fought with their clan leaders at the Cloud front.

Similarly, Danzō's Root was down to thirty or forty percent of its full strength.

Both sides knew there was no turning back.

Kakashi, left eye's Sharingan uncovered, unleashed his trump card:

"Chidori!"

Lightning roared and crackled. His arm transformed into the sharpest flash of electricity, ruthlessly piercing one Root ninja's heart!

Danzō frowned. But he merely snorted:

Even if all his men perished, as long as he got the victory himself and survived, that was enough…

That was his longtime modus operandi.

In the right hand, the Ten-Taba Zaimetsu Ken Sword stabbed into Mokume Kunugi's reanimated body. The moment the blade entered, it was like cruel torture, bursting with karmic hellfire and explosive lightning, annihilating that body in a breath, blasting it into dust and ashes!

With Susanoo descending, so majestic and overpowering, Chiyu instantly slew two reanimations, stunning the entire audience. Danzō himself gawked, sweat pouring down:
