Morning came and they were preparing to leave, Roy and Georgie stood outside the cabin looking as if they did not want to part ways with it, Georgina and Fatima stood beside them with Georgina holding hands with Roy.
Fatima appeared uninterested, and she began walking towards Old McCaughey who stood ready just outside of the farm with a carriage ready for them.
Robert was already in the carriage minding his own business, Fatima gotin and sat next to him while waiting for the others to finish their business.
"We better leave if we want to make Mr Dotmon happy now!" Old McCaughey called out and they rushed to the carriage after hearing his words, today Old McCaughey was going to take them there himself.
"Sit tight you brats." And with that the carriage began moving away from the farm, they watched as the farm got further and further away. Eventually Georgina spoke up, "We had been at the farm for 2 years and now we are leaving, you guys are truly our lucky charms." She spoke with a smile, Fatima rolled her eyes and looked away while Robert appeared not to have heard a thing.
Georgie laughed embarrassed, Roy smirked but said nothing. The rest of the ride was quite with Georgina being the only one making comments here and there.
The carriage would occasionally stop for pit stops or when old McCaughey wanted to eat, and from the distance they could already see the residential district. With the countless manors and grand estates slowly coming into view, Georgina was practically skipping inside the carriage cause Fatima and Robert to sigh while Georgie smiled and said nothing else.
"Guys we are almost there, look at all th beautiful houses in the distance. We will be living there starting today, serving an aristocrat can you believe it?" Georgina spoke hurriedly in an excited manner, Roy shared her enthusiasm as he also added
"We will definitely be paid much more than we have been paid back at the farm now tht we will be under Mr Dotmon." Georgina nodded and her eyes sparkled at the mention of money
For a moment Josh was afraid that Simon was now deeply immersed in his role for his own good, but then his friend shot him a look of satisfaction making him sigh in relief
[Scared me there pal.] He thought and his eyes moved to the carriage window, since he was seated opposite Georgina he could only see the road and the huge trail of dust they were leaving behind.
What was his purpose for infiltration? Why did he want to take down Davin Dotmon so much? Now that he thought about it, Sarah, had mentioned that Davin was the one responsible for her husband's death, but when they first met she had lied and said that her husband died at war. Josh thought back to the time he used vision of the past on the river when they were leaving Moonridge, he had seen Davin Dotmon kill a man.
[Could that man be...?] Josh thought but in the end he shrugged and let it go, Fatima who was watching him the whole time finally spoke
"Why are you shrugging?" She asked, "Huh?" Georgie responded his expression filled with confusion, "You shrugged just now, why?" Her eyes never left him and Georgie leaned back on the seat.
"I was in thought." He responded with a smile, Fatima studied him for a short while before nodding and looking out the carriage window.
[She's...a strange one, need to be careful around her. ] He thought to himself, Robert who was quiet all along finally spoke up
"Do not get too excited, aristocrats are a cruel bunch but uprising aristocrats are even worse. Their ruthlessness is at another level than that of the established houses." Robert's voice was husky with a northerner accent, The mood in the carriage turned somber.
"But then again, maybe these ones are much better." He added slowly before looking out the carriage window seemingly disinterested in their little journey.
Georgina opened and closed her mouth wanting to say something else but in the end she decided against it, For an hour they traveled in silence with each to their own secluded thoughts.
Finally old McCaughey called out from outside, "We have arrived!" He yelled and the carriage came to a halt. Georgie was the first to step out followed by the rest, his eyes grew wide as saucers as he glanced at the enormous steel gate of the Dotmon family.
[This is way smaller than house Manchester.] He thought disappointed, but his expression on the outside was one of awe.
Roy and and Georgina also shared his expression will only Fatima and Robert who appeared unimpressed, old McCaughey stepped up in front of them with a proud smile
"It sure is something, you agree?" He asked and the three nodded wordlessly while the other two plainly ignored him.
"Now before we get in, I want you five to listen to me well. In there the is no time to fool around instead you will have to work extra hard to please the mistress since master Dotmon is always out on business. Be on your best behavior, and try to get info ther good books I promise you will benefit greatly from their favor." Old McCaughey advised sternly.
[That's what I'm hoping for old man.] He thought with a smile nodding to old McCaughey's words in the process.
"Do not worry old man, we have this covered." Roy was the first to respond, and the others nodded to his words. Tears threatened to fall down old McCaughey's face, to which he rapidly blinked away and coughed embarrassingly
"Follow." He spoke and they quietly followed behind him, the gates were opened from the inside and two guards whose uniform had the Dotmon family crest.
"Old McCaughey I see you brought the new batch." One of the guards with a huge frame spoke, old McCaughey nodded with a smile
"They are the new servants master Dotmon requested Rodger." He answered, the guard named Rodgers nodded and pointed towards the manor
"Well go on then, you cannot make the master wait." Rodger sent them away, at the door they were stooped by butler in his mid 30's with a gentle smile
"McCaughey, The master is waiting for you in the garden. You may take them along with you, I will take you there follow." The butler spoke and began walking towards the garden
Old McCaughey kept a safe distance between him and the butler to which it did not go unnoticed by Georgie who was trailing closely behind.
[The butler must be a threat.] He made a mental note to himself, in order to be wary of the smiling butler.
The garden was behind the manor and in the middle was a shed with a table an four people, a man, a woman, a young lady and lad were gathered around the table each tending to their own task, the butler stopped a few feet away from the shed and spoke
"Master, McCaughey has brought the new servants." The man placed the book he had in his hand down and gazed at them and began to scan through them, one by one he nodded until he reached Georgie.
[Don't tell me...] Josh panicked for a moment before reigning in his nerves.
"You look somewhat familiar, approach." Davin beckoned with a wave of a hand, Georgie nervously approached the shed taking careful steps until he was a few feet away from Davin
"Darling, what do you think of this one." Davin asked his wife who had also stopped reading the newspaper so that she could look at the group.
The woman stood up from her chair and began examining Georgie, she even touched certain areas of his body which made him blush furiously, old McCaughey shook his head at Georgie as if silently yelling to him Down not blush or else!!"
