Dinner and deceptions

It was finally time for the dinner.

Wiltz hadn’t specified where we were meeting, which was kind of weird, now that I thought about it. But I brushed that thought aside, because standing in front of my house in a black dress Eve forced me into, I had bigger things to worry about—like the way my heart started thudding as a sleek black car pulled up in front of us.

The passenger window rolled down smoothly and Wiltz leaned across the seat, a sly smile playing at his lips. “We meet again.”

Eve didn’t even wait a full second. “Wow. Look who just drove out of a vampire’s Pinterest board.”

Wiltz chuckled, clearly not offended. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

Eve raised an eyebrow. “Good. That’s what I intended. Totally.”
