It Can't Be

Ishar, who mentally prepared for the 'It's Aarush Verma' blow, looked up so fast that he could swear he heard his neck crack. Naren's gun almost slipped out of his hands. There was a complete silence.

After what seemed like hours of staring at each other, Ishar spoke up in disbelief, his heart beating hard in his chest, "Dr. Tanvir Jaiswal? That old, sweet man? I don't believe you. We know him personally, and fully honest, he doesn't exactly have 'evil' vibes."

Mahendra looked at Naren. Naren gave a nod of agreement to Ishar's words. Finally Mahendra sighed and opened a folder. " You guys really don't trust anything without evidence, do you? Here. This is your proof. Dr. Tanvir made me swear I wouldn't show these papers to absolutely anyone."

He handed some papers to Naren and Ishar. They were contracts of weapons and money transfers (that went into millions) between the two. There were other contracts that were not with Rathore, but other illegal activities with people like Khurana and Gujar.

"I stole these other contracts secretly, when I visited them the last few days, posing to be Rathore." Mahendra explained.

After a lot of testing and everything (which brought a lot of eye rolls from Mahendra), the papers proved to be authentic.

Ishar's head was muddled now. "But…Dr.Tanvir always supported us. How could he just betray us like that?"

He shrugged. " I guess you really shouldn't trust anyone easily nowadays."

Naren looked up at him confused. " But Dr. Tanvir has always helped us until now. He was so eager and interested in the CB-1 mission…"

He trailed off, a look of horrifying realization on his face.

"...from the start right? Wasn't he always there, whenever you noticed anything?"

Ishar nodded his head. There was no denying it. Dr. Tanvir was involved from the beginning. From the first day, when Ishar was called to the military facility. Or right now, with Tanik in the search for dimanium!

Ishar gasped.

"He wants dimanium…he used us to find dimanium! It all makes sense now!"

Naren let out a sigh and gritted his teeth. "You are right. I can't believe that Dr. Tanvir, out of all people, would betray us. I feel so furious right now! Ugh…ouch."

He had kicked the wall next to him out of frustration. However, Ishar didn't feel angry, or furious, or even anxious. He felt completely irritated.

Annoyed.

Why couldn't these people just stay loyal to their words? Why did they have to complicate every single, pure thing for power and money? Did they not have a single ounce of shame?

Ishar paced around the room, calling every single person in his team and telling them about the shocking news he had found. As expected, each person was literally boiling with anger. He could feel their fury seeping through the phone.

Pratap even shouted some 'not-so-appropriate' words through the phone, which resulted in some funny looks from Mahendra, who stood awkwardly behind the table.

Ishae secretly hoped that no one from his team was a back-stabbing idiot.
