"Me, Gargi and our group of scientists experimented with the dimanium that Venkatesh and Mahendra brought. It worked perfectly. I assume you still have the golden trident? You know, the trishul?"
"Yes!"
Ishar emptied the bag contents, ignoring the puzzled look from Dr. Tanvir. Then he saw it. It lay there, brilliant as ever, about to be used for the first time in millions of years. It didn't look a day old.
He fussed with it for a moment, and then saw a small, slightly raised covering. He pulled it off, and saw a small space, like the holders meant for batteries.
A holder meant for batteries!
Ishar pulled out the small piece of dimanium, reminding himself to thank Venkatesh a hundred times when this was over. With his hands trembling from excitement, he put the dimanium inside the trident.
What happened next, was something worth remembering for a lifetime. The trishul glowed, literally gleamed a bright golden. It seemed to be luminous from within, the way the sun provides light to its surroundings. A small hum generated inside it, as if talking and whispering secrets.
The alien form of Dr. Tanvir snarled and jumped forward.
'How dare you?! How dare you use our dimanium again?"
Ishar dodged his attack quickly. Then came another attack, and another and another.
"Listen!" Venkatesh spoke through the earpiece, while Ishar was fighting around, "From what I have learned over the years, these astras are protectors…And if I am correct, they provide protection to their wielders."
"What are you talking about?" grunted Ishar, as the alien did everything in its power to keep him away from the energy stars.
"The trishul has formed a connection with you now, accepting you as its wielder. There's an essence of it, of its light, which formed a part of you. Like a protection shield. So, even after leaving the trident, some part of that protection will be with you for some time. Are you getting me?"
Ishar nodded. He knew exactly what he had to do now. In furious anger, he swung the trident at the alien harshly. His eyes widened in shock. For a moment, it seemed that the astra had burned the alien. He staggered back, clutching his head, and collapsed to the ground.
"We will be back, Ishar. Don't you dare think this is the end!"
Dr. Tanvir shot Ishar one, last threatening look, a creepy smirk formed on his face, and dropped down unconscious.
