After suddenly dying from work exhaustion in the modern world, a young man named Clayton wakes up in someone else’s body in a foreign world styled like medieval Europe. Without knowing how or why he ended up there, Clayton slowly realizes he now inhabits the body of a teenager who has just survived a deadly illness—and lost his beloved father.
But his new awakening isn’t met with hope; instead, it brings pressure and intrigue. The people around him—from city officials to seemingly kind neighbors—all share one goal: to seize the valuable house his father left behind. One by one, their masks of kindness slip away, revealing the harsh reality of this new world.
With a weak body, a nearly dead farm, and a loyal, skinny dog, Clayton must fight to survive. He not only has to delve into the memories of his body’s former owner but also navigate a world filled with manipulation, magical creatures, and social injustice.
This world isn’t just an escape from work stress—it’s a battlefield for his soul and pride.
Author here. Enjoy the new book—I hope you all like it!
it's okay, nothing too exceptional into either direction. the story struggles with many of the challenges other in it's genre also face. there is fairly little farming happening, conflicts feel very forced since living an uncontroversial farmers life isn't super conducive to high stake feudes so we see some heavy influence from chinese works in the way those conflicts are created making the antagonist feel like petty tyrants that lack in the mental department made additionally silly by the main adversaries in the first 50 chapters being other broke farmers. the power system isn't particularly innovative and the skeletons seem underutilized for what they could/should be. none of this is super egregious but but i was also missing that spark of genius that would make none of this matter so given these factors i cant realistically give more or less than a mediocre rating. there are many telltale signs of an inexperienced authors so there's some hope the story will improve with time but i doubt many will be here to see it, especially with the chapter lock being relatively early.
