Chapter 62: Let’s Get a Divorce

Fu Liangmu's face darkened, his eyes swirling with tempestuous storms, his entire aura heavy and stagnant, as if heralding an imminent storm."Li Zhen…" Before he could finish speaking, a soft, delicate hand gently rested on his shoulder. Whispering in his ear was a clear, crisp female voice."It's just a dance—what's there to fear?"

The soft click of high heels echoed on the floor. Su Wanwan lightly lifted the hem of her skirt with her fingertips, casting an elegant glance behind her. Fu Liangmu fixed his gaze on her for a moment, seeing no trace of hesitation in her eyes, and so he yielded.

Hand in hand, they stepped onto the center of the dance floor. Those who had been standing nearby swiftly retreated, clearing space for them. All eyes were poised, waiting to see Su Wanwan stumble.

Li Zhen's face brimmed with triumph, almost bursting with smug satisfaction.

Yet, as the first notes of the piano melody sounded, Su Wanwan moved in perfect harmony with the rhythm, taking her first step. Fu Liangmu matched her seamlessly, his back straight and gentlemanly.

Every movement of Su Wanwan was impeccably precise—her dance light and graceful, her form soft as cotton, each step blooming like lotus petals. Her figure, soaring with the music, resembled a flower veiled in mist—an ethereal beauty radiating a fatal allure, distant and unattainable.

Fu Liangmu drew his arm in, and Su Wanwan spun deftly several times before collapsing into his embrace. The pale blue skirt fluttered, shimmering with delicate sparks beneath the glow of the lights.

When she lifted her eyes, her smoky gaze lingered, hesitating to speak. Their eyes met, as if a thousand years passed in a single glance.

The audience was spellbound, utterly immersed in this dance of splendor. Even after the piano fell silent, they remained frozen, stunned beyond comprehension.

Fu Ziyang was the first to break the silence with applause, quickly joined by a roaring ovation.

Li Zhen's face flushed a deep, unsightly purple. Her mouth twitched uncontrollably, her composure utterly shattered.

"That was incredible—it's clear she has a solid dance foundation.""Could it be that Su Wanwan is not only a virtuoso pianist but also possesses profound skill in dance?"

As Su Wanwan stepped down from the dance floor, she passed by Li Zhen with a low, amused smile."I must thank Miss Li for giving me such a splendid opportunity to perform."

At the stairway on the third floor, a woman stood expressionless, her eyes searching Su Wanwan with a hint of intrigue.

The sharp tap of leather shoes sounded behind her."How long do you intend to keep up this charade?"

Chen Shuang, without turning, asked coldly. It was her husband, Fu Cheng.

"You know as well as I do, our parents are old and cannot bear such blows," Chen Shuang sneered, sidestepping. Her neck was bare and bare. She tossed a precious necklace onto him like a worthless rag. The necklace slid down his suit and fell with a crisp clink.

"The divorce papers were signed a month ago. I'm no longer considered part of the Fu family. Why should I continue this farce with you?"

Fu Cheng sighed deeply and reached to embrace Chen Shuang, only for her to evade him.

"A husband and wife should cherish their years together, Chen Shuang. There's no need to be so ruthless."

Chen Shuang raised her eyes with utter disdain, as if staring at repulsive garbage."Do you not find it laughable to say that now?""Three months. That's all the time I'll give you.""If you don't know how to make this public, then I will."

Fu Cheng's brow furrowed, a flicker of panic crossing his face."Are you insane? If Dad finds out about this, we won't get a single cent of the inheritance!""After all these years of effort, are you really going to hand it all to my sister and her husband?"

Chen Shuang's voice was icy and devoid of warmth."What else is in your eyes besides money?"

...

The birthday banquet drew to a slow close. Su Wanwan was ushered into a guest room to rest, dozing for two hours before Fu Liangmu woke her.

He held out a set of fresh, simple clothes for her to change into. Su Wanwan removed her makeup and tied her hair into a ponytail. Once dressed, she looked like a freshly enrolled university student—youthful, radiant, and innocent.

The moment the door opened, Fu Ziyang was dumbfounded. He wiped a droplet of saliva at the corner of his mouth, marveling,"If you hadn't told me your age, I'd have sworn you were my junior…"

Su Wanwan smiled gently and linked arms with Fu Liangmu. Fu Ziyang glanced at her face, then at Fu Liangmu's grim countenance, and groaned,"So painful to look at... utterly painful..."

She was like a blossom among weeds! If he weren't no match for Fu Liangmu, he would have snatched Su Wanwan away in a heartbeat!

The three of them walked into the dining hall, two ahead and one behind.

They had expected the entire Fu family to be there, but to their surprise, only Fu Cheng, Chen Shuang, and one more—Li Zhen—were present.

Su Wanwan first greeted "Dad, Mom," then cast an innocent glance toward Li Zhen."I thought… this was a family dinner? Why are there outsiders here?"

Li Zhen defiantly lifted her chin, assuming the posture of the hostess."Forgot to tell Miss Su—I grew up with Liangmu and Ziyang since childhood.""This place is like a second home to me.""I often visit my aunt here, so I come and go freely within the Fu household.""So, I've long been considered a member of the Fu family."

Chen Shuang's gaze fell on the dishes, her tone indifferent."Everyone sit down and eat whatever you like."

Su Wanwan slowly sat beside Fu Liangmu, smiling faintly."Sorry, I've never heard Liangmu mention your name, and I thought you were just another guest.""Today, I heard quite a few people saying Miss Li has a special relationship with Liangmu.""If it weren't for me, I suppose it'd be Miss Li by his side now."

Li Zhen stirred her soup elegantly with a spoon, her eyes sharp as a blade."Yes, I grew up with Liangmu as childhood sweethearts; our bond is naturally extraordinary."

Su Wanwan bit her lip gently, the stark contrast between the white and red strikingly beautiful. Her moist eyes sparkled."Sounds like I've disrupted your relationship with Liangmu."

She lightly tapped Fu Liangmu's arm, half-pouting, half-pleading."You really should've told me sooner.""I hate interfering in others' feelings. Had I known Miss Li was so fond of Liangmu, I wouldn't have married you.""But it's not too late now—a divorce wouldn't take long.""How about after dinner, Miss Li joins us at the civil affairs bureau?"

Li Zhen stared at her incredulously, as if struck by lightning, frozen utterly in place.

How had she once again dug a pit for herself?

Su Nian had warned her that Su Wanwan's heart still clung to Ye Nan and was undoubtedly scheming to divorce Fu Liangmu and reunite with Ye Nan! Hadn't Li Zhen's words only played right into Su Wanwan's hands?
