Biting more than he can chew

"Mira?" Sienna calls out, more like asking a question.

Mira turned to look at her, her face also shocked and confused at the same time. She didn't know how to react.

The lady she had once called her friend, who hadn't called her since she left San Francisco after her divorce with her husband. Sienna was dressed in a blue denim jean and a white top. Her skin was glowing, indicating she has been having the best of life. She stared at Mira with her big shades plastered on her face. Mira noted that she looked much younger than the last time she had seen her, and she might have had a little surgery done on her face and body, which made her look like a supermodel and absolutely gorgeous.

"Sienna?" she called.

Sienna smiled and rushed over to her, hugging her warmly.

"Oh my goodness, Mira. It's so nice to finally see you," she said.

"How are you?" Mira inquired

"Well...it's evident in my appearance that I have been doing so great," she replied, spinning around trying to give Mira a good view of her body.

"You look absolutely ravishing," Mira complimented.

"As always," she said and sat down in the next empty seat.

Gabriel, who didn't want to interfere in their conversation, took the chance to stand up from his seat. He didn't like the fact that Sienna didn't acknowledge him and chose to sit down when they were deep in conversation. But he didn't mind as they had been friends and hadn't seen themselves like forever.

"Ladies, I'd like to excuse myself and give you both time to catch up. Seems to me like you need it," he gave them a polite smile, adjusting his tie.

Sienna gave him a glum look.

Mira smiled softly at Gabriel.

"You should know Gabriel," Mira gestured toward Gabriel.

"Oh. We do know each other. You don't have to bother introducing us," Gabriel said and took his briefcase.

Mira, who senses the tension between them, decided not to give it any thought. "Ok then. I'll give you a call then,"

Gabriel nodded and made his way out of the restaurant.

"How have you been faring?" Sienna turned her attention to Mira.

"Well, I've been doing fine for myself and all that. I've been great," she responded.

"I couldn't reach you at all and you didn't bother to call me either. I'm sad," Sienna whined.

Mira squinted her eyes slightly at Sienna. She didn't change her number and made sure her previous number could go through. Even though she didn't use the number anymore, she made sure the number was active. If Sienna wanted to reach her, she could. It was obvious Seian was lying, but Mira knew better than to call her off it.

"So sorry girl. A lot had been going on back then, and I couldn't reach anyone in San Francisco," Mira answered, trying to sound convincing.

"I even tried going through your ex husband to help me get through to you, but he wouldn't let me. He also claimed that he couldn't reach you. How cruel can he be?" she said.

Mira gritted her teeth. She wasn't in love with Thane or anything, but seeing Sienna like to this extent made her feel uncomfortable. She just shrugged. Maybe Sienna didn't want her to think she didn't care.

"Yeah. Maybe he couldn't really reach me," she stated

Sienna scoffed.

"Since when can't Thane reach people. Oh please. Thane cam get anyone he wants to get with just a snap of his fingers. He didn't want me to talk to you. Nothing more," she argued.

Mira didn't want to drag further on this topic, so she just gestured for the waiter to come and take Sienna's order. Mira was happy to see Sienna but she wished Sienna wouldn't talk about the past anymore

"So, tell me. What have you been up to? What are you doing here in San Francisco?" Sienna questioned.

"Well, I am an architect and I have a project here in San Francisco with a company," she said.

"Wow. You really made something out of yourself. I am so proud of you baby girl," Sienna smiled proudly.

"So how about you? What have you been up to since I left San Francisco?" Mira queried.

"Well, I am a model. You know I always wanted to start modeling. I achieved that part of my dream," Sienna beamed as she talked about her profession.

Mira noted that she must love being a model as there was this glow on her face as she talked about her job to Mira.

"That's really wonderful. At least you can do the things you like," she praised Sienna.

Sienna stared at her for a while, admiring her.

"What?" Mira questioned, noticing the stare.

"You just look so good. Your curves are in the right places," Sienna smirked.

"That's cheeky, coming from a lady," she hit Sienna playfully.

Sienna laughed heartily.

"So how long are you staying in San Francisco?"

"Probably a few months. Just until I finish the project. Depends on how fast it runs," she explained.

"Well, we could hang out one of these days when we are both free and schedules are clear,"

"That'll be wonderful," Mira replied and stared at her watch.

Mira's phone rang at that moment. The caller id was her maid, Reyna.

"Excuse me, I have to take this," she told Sienna. "Hello?"

"Hello ma'am," Reyna called.

"Is there anything wrong with Eli?" she asked.

"No ma'am. He has been dying to talk to you since he and the boss came back. He said he wanted to tell you about his day and wouldn't stop talking about it," Reyna said

Mira felt her heart skip by the word 'boss'.

"Boss? What boss?" she queried.

"Mr. Thane. He said you gave him permission to take Eli out," Reyna said.

Mira felt her pulse quicken. Eli's voice was responding in the background.

"Let me speak to Eli," she requested.

Eli's happy voice sounded through the line.

"Mummy, I told you he was my daddy," he said happily.
