Chapter 110: An Alpha's Awakening, A Mate's Repayment

**Kaelen's POV**

Her hand was still in mine when I opened my eyes.

Seraphina's golden head lay on the edge of my hospital bed, her face turned toward me in sleep. Dried tear tracks marked her cheeks, evidence of emotion I didn't deserve. How long had she stayed by my side? The soft morning light filtering through the windows suggested it had been all night.

I should have woken her, should have pulled my hand away and restored the distance between us. Instead, I found myself studying her face—the curve of her cheek, the flutter of her eyelashes against her skin, the slight part of her lips.

The memory of singing in my sleep haunted me. Had I really been so weak? Had I revealed that much?

The last thing I clearly remembered was the searing pain of wolfsbane spreading through my veins, and then Seraphina's voice cutting through the darkness, anchoring me. Her call had pulled me back from the edge when it would have been easier to let go.
