CHAPTER 60. FLAME UNBOUND.

Chapter 60 – Flame Unbound

The Obsidian Spire collapsed in flame and fury.

Jean stood at the edge of the cliff, the stormwinds lashing around her. The second shard of Severra's soul now resided fully within her, and the divine fire had changed her. Her aura shimmered with hues not seen in mortal light—silver, gold, and deep white-blue. Luxclade felt alive in her hands, weightless yet eternal.

Behind her, the Iron Empress roared beneath the ruins.

"Run if you must, girl!" Alarienne's voice echoed from the broken mountain. "You carry the flame, but you will burn before this ends!"

Whitney growled beside Jean, his fur crackling with divine energy, his eyes gleaming like twin moons.

"We've done enough for today," he said.

Jean turned away from the ruins, her expression calm but fierce.

"No. We've only just begun."

They fled into the Thorns of Fate, chased by the remnants of Alarienne's knights. But they never caught her. Jean Luther was no longer a girl bound by the Academy's walls—she was now the true Emissary of Flame, her presence enough to part storms and silence even the most ancient magics.

As they crossed the highland valleys, the world shifted again.

Dragons began to stir.

Far to the north, buried beneath the volcanic plains of Valthar's Maw, something vast and ancient opened its eyes. The magma boiled. The clouds split.

Antares had awakened.

His roar—deep, sorrowful, and vengeful—echoed across continents.

The Dragon Lord had felt Severra's flame return to the world. And he remembered the one who had once wounded him—Martin Luther.

And now... the girl who bore his bloodline.

Jean collapsed to her knees as the sound struck her heart like a hammer. Visions rushed into her—of wings blotting the sky, of mountains crumbling, of dragons rising.

She saw Antares, his eyes like suns, his body a storm of obsidian scales and divine hatred.

"He's awake…" she whispered.

Whitney stepped forward, shielding her with his body.

"Then we move faster."

Jean stood, her flame now a burning star inside her chest.

"No," she said.

"We make our stand."
