Five

Kia's POV

Continuing the conversation with his big brother, I jot down notes so I can provide them a more feasible suggestion on how it can make up to his wife.

"Oh! I know now! How about bringing her to the Sky Towers tonight?" Pierre suggested.

"That one is out of option, his wife doesn't like to be in high places." I muttered, cross checking every detail on my notes.

"Hm, how about a dinner at a fancy restaurant." His big brother suggested.

"Could be, but you should pay attention to what she likes to eat, Sir." I replied, considering how it's wife a picky eater, but then I came across the idea of how it loves the sea. "How about taking her out for a dinner by the seaside?" I suggested, fidgeting with my pen.

As if hitting the bull's eye, his big brother then held my hand and said. "Oh Kia, you're truly an angel! But can I please bother you with the arrangement for it, tonight?"

Swatting his big brother's hand, Pierre says. "Can you please stop casually holding her hands? You're a married man."

Chuckling shyly, it let's go and said. "I'll leave it to you then, Kia. Just tell him (pointing to Pierre) to call me when the arrangements are done. Thank you so much, I owe you two on this."

With him leaving Pierre's office, Pierre looked at me, muttering. "How could you even be effortlessly good on this, Miss."

Confused to what he is trying to say, I asked. "What do you mean? I just helped you guys think."

Shaking his head, Pierre says. "You did help, a lot. If it weren't you here, I'm sure the two of us will be coming to our Mom and ask her."

Couldn't help but to giggle, I replied. "But didn't you say she'll get mad if she knows about it?"

Nodding with a smile, he muttered. "She'll sure be. Our Mom might look tough outside but she's nothing but a romantic inside and growing up, we were raised in an environment where ladies should be treated well and respected, so this kind of thing is really just a big deal for us."

Can't help but to smile with his sentiments, I commented. "It must be nice."

"It is and that is why, I want you to know that my intentions for you is nothing but pure." He replies, kissing my forehead.

Nodding, I then started making the prior arrangements for the dinner for his big brother and its wife while he goes scanning through the pile of documents on his desk.

Feeling tired, I started stretching and yawning on my seat then all of the sudden, Pierre appears behind me.

"Tired? Mind if I order some snacks for us?" he asked.

Giggling, I replied. "That's my job as your secretary."

Shaking his head, he says. "Yes it is, but, it's my job to take care of my Queen, so, what do you have in mind for snacks? You haven't eat anything for breakfast."

Smiling, I lean in to his arm and said. "I can't think of anything. Just order what you want."

Kissing my forehead, he replies. "As you wish."

After sometime, someone knocks on the door and revealed a lady holding out two pieces of coffee and a paper bag of snacks.

"Here are your orders, Sir." It said to Pierre but is obviously encouraging me to stand up to get it from her.

Obliging, I tried to stand up from the seat but Pierre holds me down and said "Let me."

Getting the orders himself, he stood before the lady and said. "I believe you are working here for years now and I believe that it is only this time you see her, but she's not just a secretary to me so if I may ask. Please never treat her like that next time."

Nodding, the lady walks away and Pierre closes the door and asked me to seat with him on the couch.

"Was that really necessary?" I asked.

Handing me the sandwich and the coffee, he nods. "People needs to know about you, Miss. You are just amazing and I would love it for other people to see what you are."

"But what if they think that I'm just using you?" I asked again.

"As if I care about them. All that matters to me is for you to be treated well and for you to be happy." He adds.

Don't know what to say, I just nod and started eating so the both of us could go back to what we are doing.

Time passed by fast and before we knew it, it's already time to go home, luckily, I managed to get the reservations done just in time so all there's left to do is for his brother and its wife to go there.

Going home, I asked Pierre. "Are you staying the night again?"

"Hm? I can, but not if you don't want to." He says.

"I didn't say I didn't want to, it's just that I don't think it will be good for neither of us." I mumbled, biting my lips.

Nodding, Pierre replies. "Alright then, I'll just drop you off."

Nodding in agreement with him, he brought me home and left as soon as I got in. Now alone, I tried to make sense of everything that is happening to my life right now, including why is Keith being pulled away from me and there, I am reminded of how things are like back when I was a child.

-Flashback-

I was told that I have been an orphan as a baby and at the age of three, I was then adopted by a wealthy family.

Raised in an abundant family, of course I get everything what I want and as a spoiled and rebellious one, I had developed vices that eventually got ahead of me which resulted me to be pregnant at the age of 18.

Back then, I remembered my family making me decide between aborting Keith and staying as a part of the Family and as you can tell, I pushed through my pregnancy with Keith, believing that Seth will be there for us.

But as Keith turned to three, Seth began to hold up in providing for us and the only way for me to get him giving is with body.

Yes, we are still in a relationship by this time but without him doing me, I couldn't get any help from him so instead of calling it a relationship, I'd rather call it prostitution and that setup of ours continued for another year, until I bumped my head and see the reality.

-end of Flashback-

"Maybe, I really am destined to be alone." I murmured to myself, crouching in like a potato. "Maybe, Seth is right."

As I am busy blaming myself for everything, my phone vibrates and there I saw a picture, sent by Pierre. "Look how happy they are." It reads.

Smiling bashfully, I replied. "That's good."

"That's cold, are you feeling okay?" Pierre texts me back.

"I am, just tired, I guess." I texted him once more.

"Really? You should go rest then." He replies. "Goodnight, My Queen. I'll pick you up at 7."

Don't know what to reply, I just put my phone down and continued contemplating as to what life still holds for me, or this really is it for me?

Lost in my thoughts, I just fell asleep and given that my head is processing a lot, of course I am not surprised to have a significant bad dream about how everything will end.

So the next day when I woke up, my head hurts bad and I am obviously far from what you can 'okay' but I knew I had to show up for work, so I got up and prepared myself until, Pierre comes to fetch me up.

"Good morning, ready to go, my Queen?" He asks, kissing on my forehead.

Not wanting to talk, I give him a nod and he goes assisting me towards the passenger seat. "You don't have a driver, today?" I asked.

Shaking his head, he replies. "I don't feel like being a passenger today since we will be out for the whole day."

"Out for the whole day?" I asked again.

Nodding, he caressed my hair and said. "Don't worry, I am not sneaking you for a date or something. I just got to be in some meetings and as my secretary, of course I'd love for you to come around."

Nodding back, I just buckled up myself and leaned my back as he drives.

Holding and frequently kissing the back of my hand isn't something I was used to ever since I started dating so seeing him like this is just too much for me for me handle, not in the bad way though.

I mean, I do appreciate this gestures of him but, I just don't think it's right for me to receive this kind of affection. Not when everyone from my past treats me as nothing but a trash, whom they can just throw away when I can't do my use to them.

"You're sweating cold, Miss. Are you feeling unwell?" Pierre asks concerned, feeling the sweat on my forehead.

Not wanting to cause trouble for him, I just nod and picked up my handkerchief to wipe it off, but after sometime my symptoms started to worsen and before I knew it, I was already coming down with a fever.

"Sh*t" Pierre cursed, immediately stopping the car, parking on a hazard. "Why didn't you told me that you're not feeling well. I could have just let you rest." He asked.

Shaking my head, I told him. "I-it's just a fever, I don't want to mess at work when I just started."

Groaning to himself, he pulls his phone up and calls someone. "Big brother, can you please go on a meeting for me? I am already on the way but I don't think I can go, Miss Kia is having a fever."

And without hesitation, his big brother replies. "Sure, I owe you two after all, just tell me where the meeting is."

Nodding, Pierre says. "It's with the Jacob's Solutions, the one near your house."

"Copy that, you two take it easy. Make her rest and if you think she needs to be checked, just go to your sister-in-law's clinic, she'll be happy to see you." His brother says, before ending the call.

Looking at me, he asks. "What do you say about a check up, Miss? You've been getting sickly for the past week."

"But, do I really have to? Maybe, all I need is just some rest." I replied.

Shaking his head, he reached for my face and said. "If that's true then you should have been better after week, not worsen like this."

Can't argue with his point, I just stayed still and let him drive to the clinic and there, we were immediately greeted by his sister-in-law.

"Oh why hello there! It's rare to see you come here my dear little brother-in-law and with a lady at that." It teases him before looking at me.

"I'm guessing you are Kia, my husband told me how much you helped him with that surprise, I should be thanking you." It muttered, bowing politely before me.

Shaking my head into the embarrassment it cause me, I asked her to lift her head and said. "I don't deserve to be thanked like that. Especially when you're a doctor and I am nothing but a secretary."

Giggling, she nudges me lightly and whispered. "Girl, believe me , you are far from being just a secretary. Just look at that eyes on you." Obviously talking about Pierre who's staring at us.

"Come on, sis. We aren't here for your chit-chats. I need her to be checked." Pierre whined impatiently.

Giggling once more, she then let's us in and started asking questions about my life style, then proceeds with the examination.
