Chapter 4: First Quest

Allen didn't have much trouble adjusting to the fact that there was going to be an extra voice talking in his head from now on.

Besides, Mira could always provide him with useful information so there was nothing to worry about.

The training session for the day wasn't scheduled that early so he got up a bit later than usual by 7:30 AM.

Allen was someone who, as long as he went to bed on time, wouldn't feel a moment of tiredness or drowsiness. He was wide awake and ready to go the moment he woke up.

He made his way downstairs and straight to the kitchen, where he found Jasmine, who was leaning over the kitchen counter texting on her phone while occasionally sparing a glance at the glass of water beside her.

She noticed Allen the moment he appeared and turned to him but the younger brother ignored him and made his way to the refrigerator.

It didn't take long before he shut the fridge, a bottle of water now in his hand.

He didn't bother looking for a cup like Jasmine and began to gulp down the whole thing.

"Good morning." Jasmine smiled.

Allen slowly brought down the bottle from his mouth before grunting in response.

"Are you training today?" She asked after putting her phone down on the counter.

Allen nodded in response before throwing the now empty bottle into the trash bin by the side.

"Okay, we'll have breakfast once big sis comes down, then I'll drive you to work.

It wasn't that she was waiting for her big sister to have breakfast with them, the thing was that other than Allen, Elena was the only person in the house who could cook. She could tell Allen was still holding a grudge because of what she did last night so there was no way she was going to tell him to make her breakfast.

As for the matter of driving him to the training ground, he could only agree to the request. Although he could drive, he still didn't have a driving license yet, so going on the road was impossible, especially considering the fact that he was an up-and-coming footballer.

They had breakfast soon afterwards, and Jasmine drove him to the Bodymoor Heath training ground.

The training ground wasn't far from home; it was a drive of less than twenty minutes, so it didn't take them long to get there.

The moment Jasmine pulled up in front of the entrance, she immediately spotted someone standing in front of the gate before Allen could even look that way.

"Hey, it's that cute teammate of yours again."

Allen followed her line of sight and found the person in question standing in front of the gate scrolling through his phone.

He was in a set of black Aston Villa track pants and jacket with his backpack hung over his shoulder.

Jasmine, who would usually say a few words to him every time she dropped him off, now had her mind and eye completely occupied to the point that she seemed to have forgotten that he was still in the car.

He wanted to tell her that most men didn't like being called cute, but seeing her like that, he couldn't help but roll his eyes before reaching for the door.

The only thing he could do was say a silent prayer for David Lopez; if his sister had really taken a liking to him, then he didn't have much time on his hands.

"I'm off," Allen said before slamming the door shut.

"Mmm," Jasmine responded absent-mindedly.

While Allen was making his way to the gate, Jasmine quickly rolled down the window to wave at David.

The young winger noticed her and returned the wave with a smile on his face.

Allen noticed that and quickly turned around to glare at his sister.

She started the engine the moment she met Allen's gaze and quickly drove off.

Allen could only sigh in exasperation as he moved closer to David.

"Hey." He said just after stopping in front of him.

David smiled warmly at him before slipping his phone into his pocket.

David was a right winger and a very easy person to get along with; his smile, especially, was really good at putting people at ease.

He was only twenty years old and had just transferred to the team that season from Villarreal.

Currently, he can't be considered part of the starting eleven but he had started the match and was undoubtedly an important player in the team.

"Are you all right now?" He asked.

Although David was Spanish, you could say he mostly grew up in England, so his English was more than decent.

"Yes, thank you for yesterday."

He said he was okay so the winger refrained from probing further.

The two made their way through the gate soon afterwards, and just a while after they entered, Evan Ferguson walked through the gate alongside Boubacar Kamara.

They played a game yesterday, so the training session for the day, so the activities for the day only included less strenuous and recovery exercises.

They started with light jogs before moving on to other things.

After a while, the coach just let the players do whatever they wanted as long as they weren't wasting their time on the pitch. There was still some time before they would talk about what happened last night against Liverpool.

While some of the players were fooling around with caution, Allen was standing in front of a line of ten straight-line cone weave set up for a dribbling drill.

The youngster was planning to sit down and rest for a while after being made a total fool trying to get the ball from his teammates in a fun game.

It certainly wasn't fun for him.

He was just about to sit down when it happened.

The system just gave him the quest, there wasn't really anything forcing him to take it seriously, but he felt that he needed to complete it despite the fact his body wasn't all that willing.

Staring at the task in front of him, the youngster softly exhaled before rolling the ball forward.

His first quest had to be nothing but a success.
