The hall designated for the wedding ceremony was already packed with guests, all seated and eagerly awaiting the event to begin.
Outside, Mrs. Bennett stood anxiously, her gaze darting toward the entrance as she waited for Ivy and Jeremy to arrive. But time dragged on, and they were nowhere in sight. ‘What on earth is going on?’ she wondered, reaching for her phone to call Jeremy and find out why he hadn’t arrived yet.
She dialed his number, tapping her foot impatiently as the call rang. But it just kept ringing…and ringing…until it finally disconnected.
Just then, the priest leading the ceremony stepped out of the hall and spotted her.
“Mrs. Bennett, what’s going on? We’re running late,” Father Abraham said, glancing at his wristwatch.
Offering a nervous smile, she dipped her head slightly. “I’m sorry, Father. The groom’s car broke down on the way, but the bride should be here any moment now.”
