The royal throne room of Lunaris stood quiet, its high ceilings painted with constellations and silver-gilded banners fluttering gently in the breeze. Shisui stood before King Fenryl Moonfang and Queen Lysara, his crimson eyes steady, posture firm.
Princess Irylia sat beside her parents, radiant and composed.
"You've been summoned," King Fenryl began, "to speak regarding a matter of both political and personal importance."
Shisui gave a small bow. "I understand, Your Majesty."
Queen Lysara's gaze softened. "Our daughter has made her heart known. She wishes to marry you, Shisui of the Morinaka Clan. But before we proceed, we must know the full truth of who you are—and what you bring."
There was a pause.
Shisui exhaled quietly. "I won't hide anything. I am already married. I have three wives—Naoko, a priestess of the Moon Flame; Himeya, a master of celestial puppetry; and Liryssa, an mermaid-blade sorceress."
A quiet gasp came from one of the court nobles. Irylia's expression remained unchanged, her heart steady.
"Irylia knows this," Shisui continued. "But I also understand your concern. If this bond is to be official between realms, I must first speak with my father—Masaki Morinaka, Daimyo of the Land of Flowers and head of the Morinaka Clan."
King Fenryl leaned forward. "And what will his word mean to you?"
"Everything," Shisui answered. "He is not only my father. He is the pillar of my legacy."
King Fenryl glanced at his daughter, then at his queen. "Very well. Seek your father. We will await your return… and his."
