Chapter 37: Hybrid Fruit

Early the next morning.

Just as the sky began to brighten, Jiang Chen got up quietly and made his way to the orchard. It was peaceful. A light breeze rustled through the pear trees.

He picked several green Ya pears from a tree. After making sure no one was around, he touched them one by one with his spiritual hand.

They turned red.Bright, vibrant red.

He quickly put them in his backpack.

Back home, he lifted the blanket.Wen-xian, already awake, was blinking sleepily, clearly still replaying last night's "ordeal" in her mind.Seeing Jiang Chen pull back the covers, she thought he was coming back for another "round."She opened her arms and pulled him in under the blanket, whispering,"Again? Still not satisfied?"

Jiang Chen smiled. He'd originally just wanted to talk, but being greeted like this by his beautiful wife, how could he resist? He said nothing, stripped off his clothes, leaned over her, bit her lip, and got to work.

Wen-xian hadn't expected such a "morning surprise." Her body tingled with pleasure. She wrapped her arms around his neck and asked softly, "Honey, are you tired?"

Jiang Chen had been extra enthusiastic—after all, in daylight, he could admire her beauty more clearly.Only now did he start to wonder if he'd overdone it. Would this leave him drained all day?

He moved his limbs experimentally—surprisingly nimble. Not even the slightest fatigue.Instead, he felt strong and brimming with energy.

What was going on?Could it be… that Wen-xian's essence somehow strengthened his?

"Not tired," Jiang Chen said as he kissed her again. "Sister Wen, you're amazing."

Seeing her husband so vigorous again, Wen-xian was delighted. She gave him a full-body massage, and the two finally got out of bed.

After breakfast, they headed straight for Jiang City.

In his office, Zhao Liang was surprised when Jiang Chen walked in with a stunning woman in tow.The woman was dazzling—oozing femininity. A woman any man would want at first sight.

Zhao Liang's heart sank:Is Jiang Chen showing her off on purpose?

From the look of them, they weren't just dating. That glow on her face, that supple fullness—clearly, she'd been deeply loved. And not just once or twice.

Damn. Jiang Chen's taken.

Guess my daughter doesn't stand a chance anymore...

Zhao Liang felt a pang of disappointment.Jiang Chen would've made a perfect son-in-law.Too bad someone else got there first.

Jiang Chen had brought Wen-xian here precisely for this reason—to politely but clearly reject Zhao Liang's previous hint that his daughter, Zhao Yafeng, liked Jiang Chen.

It was better to be upfront now than let things spiral later. A stitch in time saves nine.

After they sat down, Zhao Liang rubbed his hands together and smiled,"So, this lady is..."

"This is my wife, Wen-xian."

"Uncle Zhao, Jiang Chen often talks about you," Wen-xian said gracefully.

Zhao Liang felt a touch of admiration.Wen-xian was poised and charming, her soft curves irresistible. His own daughter couldn't match this kind of sensuality.

He sighed inwardly—so that's the charm of an experienced woman.A young girl like his daughter, still waiting to be chased, didn't stand a chance.

"Uncle Zhao, take a look at this pear." Jiang Chen smiled as he brought out a red Ya pear.

Zhao Liang took it and was stunned."Wow, not a single blemish, and the color's so vivid!"

"Color's one thing—taste is what matters."

Jiang Chen took out a fruit knife and sliced it.

Zhao Liang popped a piece in his mouth. His eyes widened."Sweet! Super sweet! And there's a subtle fragrance too. What variety is this? I've never seen it."

"Red Fuji."

"Come on, don't joke. Red Fuji pears don't taste like this."

"Heh, I did some hybrid grafting. Combined Ya pear with Red Fuji. This is what came out."

Zhao Liang frowned, amazed."You know how to hybridize?"

Then he realized, saying that in front of a lady sounded kind of… suggestive. He quickly corrected himself,"I mean, even a hybrid shouldn't be this sweet. Is it genetically modified or something?"

"Don't get hung up on the variety. I'm here to ask you a favor—can you help me sell this?"
