The Set Up Part Two
Aria Pov
It's been a year since I moved to Silver Moon pack house, my parents hadn't contacted me ever since or maybe they never cared.
Alex has stopped doubting me for now but the threatening letters haven't reduced yet. Each day I wake up twitching in anxiety with worry of being caught, of being suspected.
*
Tonight I had decided to take the risk of seeing a rebel in the abandoned courtyard maybe he could help uncover the truth behind the letters but then as we spoke he asked for something in return. Something i could never give to any man 'my innocence'.
I moved backwards feeling dizzy as I stared at him in disagreement.
He drugged me.
"you—...you did something to the drink didn't you?"...i whispered clutching my chest as i gasped for air.
A sly smile spread across his face as he approached me, his hands grasping for me. I tried to struggle, but he dragged me toward him, tearing my dress in the process.
"What are you doing?" I struggled, my voice shaking.
"Stay still, sweetie," he whispered, his breath hot against my ear.
I tried to struggle wishing for someone to come but it was all in vain. And then Alex walked in.
"what the hell is going on here"...Alex shouted raising his voice in anger.
I fell to the floor as the man struggled to get away but the guards caught him and with Alex's permission he was taken to the dungeon.
Alex walked towards me with anger and hurt in his eyes. I have never seen him that angry before.
"So the rumors are true Aria"....he spat the words out.
"Alex please I can explain"...but he raised his hands in anger stopping it mid air.
"Get up and leave now" he screamed at me "I don't want to see your face ever"
I stumbled trying to get up as I ran towards my room, the pain was too much.
*
I stood frozen in front of the mirror, my eyes locked on the reflection staring back at me. My room was a prison, the door locked from the inside, a desperate attempt to shut out the world.
Hopelessness seeped into my bones like a chill, refusing to let go.
Nelly, my loyal maid, hovered beside me, worry etched on her face. "My lady, please, you have to eat something," she coaxed, holding out a tray of steaming food.
I turned away, my stomach churning with a mix of anxiety and fear.
Someone was scheming against me "I'm not hungry, Nelly," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper.
Nelly's expression turned persuasive. "But you have to, Luna. You're weakening by the day. Please, just a little something?"
I shook my head, irritation flaring up. "Leave me alone, Nelly." I shoved her hand away, my eyes scanning the floor until they landed on a crumpled letter behind my dresser. The words danced on the page, mocking me:
"Did you like my gift, Luna?"
