CHAPTER 19:

Chapter 19: Star Maps and Honest Eyes

Evening – Study Session at Noah's Place

The dining table was covered in textbooks, notebooks, and Lana's halfway-doodled page of stars and constellations.

Noah sat across from her, completely focused—except for how often his eyes flicked up to her face when she wasn't looking.

"You know," Lana said, flipping her pencil between her fingers, "you're allowed to take breaks."

He raised an eyebrow. "That was my break. I reorganized my flashcards."

She sighed dramatically. "You're hopeless."

"You keep showing up to study with me, though," he said, half smiling.

"Yeah," she said softly, "I guess I like hopeless."

Later – Rooftop View

They moved to the balcony after finishing, the stars unusually clear that night.

"Did you ever think about what's next?" Lana asked.

"All the time," Noah replied. "I make plans. Spreadsheets. Backup plans for my backup plans."

She leaned on the railing. "Do I fit into any of those?"

The question came out before she could stop it.

Noah blinked. His voice was quiet. "...You're in all of them."

She turned to him slowly. "Even the ones you haven't told anyone about?"

He nodded. "Especially those."

The First Kiss

There was silence. But the good kind. The one that hums between people who don't need noise to understand each other.

He stepped closer. She didn't move.

"I don't want to overthink this," Noah said.

"For once," Lana teased, eyes bright.

He laughed—and then, with no more words between them, he kissed her.

It wasn't rushed. It wasn't perfectly timed. But it was real.

Sweet, nervous, warm.

When they pulled away, Noah was blushing. Lana grinned.

"Guess even geniuses need help sometimes."

He smiled. "I just found my favorite distraction."
