As she passed by the neighboring classroom, Chen Cheng glanced inside through the window.
It didn't take long for her to spot a girl sitting in the back row, probably around 170 cm tall, likely one of the girls who played basketball with An Yuan.
She wasn't stunningly beautiful, but her features were well-proportioned. And her figure... even the loose autumn uniform jacket couldn't hide her curves.
She probably had toned abs under that uniform too...
Chen Cheng and An Yuan often shared questionable pictures and exchanged links, so she knew exactly what kind of girl was An Yuan's type. Big chest, slim waist, nice figure, it didn't even matter if her face was average.
Unlike Chen Cheng, who mostly stuck to 2D characters.
She frowned slightly and instinctively glanced down at her own chest.
It's decent. Her curves are still clearly visible even though she's wearing her jacket... though definitely not as exaggerated as that girl's.
Wait! Why am I even comparing myself to another girl's body?!
I've only been a girl for a week, and I'm already thinking like this?!
Frustrated with herself, she scowled and stomped back to the hallway outside her classroom. She leaned against the railing, staring down at the sports field below, waiting for the bell to ring.
"Chengcheng~ wanna go to the restroom together?"
"I just went."
Chen Cheng had realized that she was pretty popular among the girls in her class, but... she had forgotten most of their names. Asking now would just be awkward, so she kept up her usual aloof act to avoid conversation.
Resting her chin on both hands, she sighed.
Classes were boring. There was nothing fun to do after school either. It seemed like this whole year would just drag on like this.
Even if she wanted to go back to writing novels, she wouldn't be able to make money under her current circumstances... It wasn't illegal for minors to write, but signing a contract and earning money usually required a parent's ID.
Her mom would probably think it was a scam.
"Huh?"
Lost in thought, Chen Cheng suddenly spotted someone familiar down below, Li Wanyi.
That shameless woman was holding onto some guy's arm, smiling sweetly...
Oh-ho, so that's why she put extra effort into her makeup today! Turns out she was out here flirting with another man!
Couldn't get An Yuan, so now she's looking for a backup, huh?
Chen Cheng's eyes lit up. Finally, some dirt on Li Wanyi! Excited, she rushed back to the classroom to find An Yuan.
"An Yuan! An Yuan!"
"Huh? What's up?"
An Yuan was busy with his homework. The entire day had been nothing but classes, test papers, and basketball. He hadn't had a moment to breathe.
"Come with me, quick! Or you'll miss it!"
"Just tell me what it is."
Chen Cheng glanced at Gao Dong, who immediately got up and gave her his seat. She plopped down, leaned in, and whispered excitedly, "I just saw Li Wanyi flirting with some guy! I knew she wasn't the loyal type, even back in high school!"
"Oh."
"That's it? Why don't you show some reaction?"
"What, do you want me to cry?"
"I mean... you wouldn't mind?"
An Yuan rolled his eyes at her, stretched lazily, and cracked his neck with an exhausted yawn.
School felt way more tiring than work.
Seeing that he didn't care about Li Wanyi's gossip at all, Chen Cheng finally felt reassured. Looked like her childhood friend wouldn't be making the same mistake twice.
"What class is next?"
"Chemistry."
"Ugh, chemistry again? That teacher always puts me to sleep."
Chen Cheng hated chemistry. Not because of the subject itself, but because the teacher was incredibly boring, her lectures felt like a lullaby.
And on top of that, she was a strict middle-aged woman with a bad temper.
Privately, the students all said she was probably going through menopause.
Unlike Chinese class, which was fun and engaging, or the English teacher, who was still quite charming...
Chen Cheng grumbled as she returned to her seat.
At least English was useful in daily life, especially for shut-ins who liked watching foreign movies, playing untranslated games, or browsing English forums. But physics and chemistry? She had long since wiped those from her memory.
"Class is starting!"
"Good morning, teacher~"
The chemistry teacher gave a stiff nod. She was short and a bit chubby, with a face that oddly resembled the strict nanny from old TV dramas. Her eyes always seemed to drift inward slightly, giving her a bit of a cross-eyed look.
The students whispered among themselves, creating a low hum of chatter. The teacher smacked the podium and scanned the class with her squinted gaze.
"Quiet! If you like talking so much, why don't you come up here and teach?!"
"This is the worst class I've ever had! You're in your senior year and still can't control yourselves?!"
Her classes were always tense and stifling. Sure, the strictness kept things quiet, but most seventeen-year-olds were rebellious. Push them too hard, and they'd push back harder.
The moment the teacher turned to write on the board, Gao Dong smirked and sneakily held up his middle finger, making the class hold back their laughter.
But as soon as the teacher turned back around, everyone sat up straight, looking as disciplined as ever.
"You're all supposed to be grown-ups. So immature," Chen Cheng muttered, resting her chin on one hand. "Acting like a bunch of middle schoolers."
Not that she had much room to talk, she was technically a twenty seven years old man.
Pan Jie overheard her and immediately sat up straight, trying to look more mature.
He knew he couldn't compete with An Yuan, but at least he could make a good impression on the girl he liked.
"Chengcheng, wanna go shopping after school?"
A girl sitting in front of her turned around and asked when the teacher wasn't looking.
"Huh?"
Wait, who are you again? We talk occasionally, but why the sudden invitation?
Chen Cheng racked her brain but couldn't remember the girl's name. Still, that didn't stop her from refusing.
"I can't. My mom's super strict. I have to go straight home after school."
"Hey, you there! Chen Cheng! What are you whispering about?!"
"???"
Chen Cheng looked absolutely dumbfounded.
She wasn't even the one who started the conversation!
"Stand up! You're getting punished!"
With the whole class watching, her face instantly turned red, even her ears flushing. She stood up with her head down, toes curling against the floor in embarrassment, wishing she could disappear.
She stared at her fingernails, biting her lip in frustration.
Ever since college, she hadn't been scolded like this in at least seven or eight years. But ever since returning to high school, it felt like she was getting humiliated every single day.
No way. Just because she was a girl now didn't mean people could push her around!
She wasn't made of cotton!
Swallowing her frustration, she finally remembered why she hated this chemistry teacher so much.
She spent the entire class standing there, barely paying attention.
The moment the bell rang, Chen Cheng marched over to An Yuan, looking utterly wronged.
"This is all your fault for dragging me back here..."
"Alright, alright," An Yuan said, half-laughing, half-sighing.
Chen Cheng was seriously acting more and more like a little girl. The way she pouted and whined, it was kind of cute. It almost made him want to tease her.
"Wanna get a Coke? My treat."
"I only said one sentence! And it wasn't even my fault!" Chen Cheng huffed. "But I'm the only one who got in trouble!"
"How about I take you to an internet café tonight?"
"Really?!" Chen Cheng's face lit up instantly, her mood switching from stormy to sunny. "What about the Coke?"
"There are no time between classes. I'll buy it for you after school."
