Chapter 23: Reward Accumulation

Natasha, who had been riding along with the supercar for a day, wasn't angry; instead, she was utterly surprised. She had chased Connors all this way to find Cindy.

Although she didn't know Cindy personally, she'd done her homework before coming. The moment she saw the spider silk clinging to the supercar, she knew her trip wasn't in vain.

Unfortunately, when she finally descended from mid-air, her body was already tangled in a lot of milky-white, sticky spider silk. She had no choice but to find a hotel to wash up and change.

She discarded her original black stockings and suspender skirt, changing into a red, hip-hugging dress with a wide, open neckline. Her "snow-capped mountain" scenery trembled as she walked.

The monochrome red dress was only embellished with a thin golden belt, which perfectly matched her delicate, three-dimensional facial features and her large red curls.

When she emerged from the hotel, the receptionist's eyes widened in speechless amazement. In the hotel lobby, several young men idly sat on the sofa. When they saw Natasha, their eyes lit up, and they prepared to strike up a conversation. However, the woman gave them a cold glance, and they immediately fell silent.

Natasha hailed a taxi, gave an address, ignored the driver's frequent glances through the rearview mirror, and put on a pair of glasses.

In the glasses, the signal of the tracker—which she had just discreetly placed on Connors using the supercar's wind and tailspin noise—flickered.

An hour later, Natasha stood in front of an apartment building door on the 19th floor, silently counting the time. Inside, the sounds of male and female breathing and thumping came one after another.

Natasha finally waited for the noise to subside, and just as she was about to knock, she heard Connors say, "One more time," from inside.

Again?! Including travel time, she had given these two enough time, so why were they still at it?

Another half an hour passed, during which Natasha declined the invitation of Connors's next-door neighbor. When she heard no more sound from inside, she raised her hand and knocked.

Connors, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, opened the door. As expected, he saw Black Widow leaning against the door in a very alluring red dress, and he smiled: "I knew you'd follow." With his Spider-Sense, the small, insect-like tracker that Black Widow had dropped on him could not be hidden.

However, Flash Barry had already visited the future and found that "there is no future," meaning something big was definitely going to happen.

In this case, it was truly necessary for Cindy to follow Natasha. Connors had already mentioned this on the way back to the apartment with Cindy.

Cindy was silent the entire way, but when they arrived at the apartment, she was more enthusiastic than ever, which was taken as her affirmative answer to the question of "going or not going" with her actions.

That night in Gotham, Connors was finally alone in his empty room again. Cindy had been picked up by Natasha, and the two left on a sci-fi plane that descended from the sky.

Their destination was New York, not far from Gotham City. Before leaving, taking advantage of Cindy's inattention, Black Widow quietly handed Connors a card with her personal contact information on it, and a whisper: "Come to New York if you have a chance."

He certainly had to go to New York, but not now. Connors's mission in Gotham to "watch the show," the "Laughing Man" incident, was still ongoing. Once this incident was over, if there were no other major events, he could go.

Seeing that it was approaching midnight and there shouldn't be any new late-night news, he opened the system.

[Yesterday's juicy gossip: The kidnapped Black Widow]

[Yesterday's juicy gossip: A brief but profound friendship with Seol Hee]

[Today's juicy gossip: The Laughing Man incident (ongoing) - The Battle of Brokeback]

[Today's juicy gossip: The Laughing Man incident (ongoing) - The birth of Robin]

[Today's juicy gossip: Getting to know Cindy Moon inside and out]

A total of five major "gossips"! Last night, he had gone to Penguin's Iceberg Club to cause trouble, then worked at Seol Hee's hotel, and then to Batman's "Brokeback" in the early morning.

A series of events had prevented him from submitting yesterday's "gossip-eating" task in time, accumulating them until today.

[Rewards are accumulated; do you want to submit?]

There was no need to hesitate; Connors decisively submitted the accumulated "gossip-eating" rewards.

[Gossip-eating reward: Human Limits enhancement]

[Human Limits enhancement: including but not limited to strength, senses, reaction, speed, endurance, and spirit]

It was here, it was finally here! The physical fitness reward Connors had been waiting for so long had finally arrived! After carefully studying the reward, Connors knew that his current physical fitness should be similar to Batman's, which was the highest level of normal human physical fitness.

However, there had been no significant improvement in self-healing ability, metabolism, and other aspects because this was no longer within the scope of normal humans.

Although, this reward comes a little late… Connors thought with regret. Now Harley Quinn had disappeared, apparently taken away by Poison Ivy.

Cindy Moon also left with Natasha. In all of Gotham, the only person who had "dealt with" Connors was Seol Hee. Seol Hee wasn't known for her physical fitness…

Fortunately, since he had just finished "fighting" with Cindy Moon less than fifteen minutes ago, he was still in a "sage-like" state, and his thoughts quickly turned to the Joker.

The series of events encountered so far were almost all related to the Joker, and the "Laughing Man" incident was still displayed as ongoing.

It wasn't Connors's style to keep waiting. He planned to take the initiative and accelerate things.

He casually controlled the Green of All Things and transformed the next-door cactus that had grown into a clown-like shape into the short and fat image of the Penguin.

_________

The next day, the sirens sounded even more promptly than his alarm clock, successfully waking the sleeping Connors. "Sir, this kind of thing keeps happening. I suggest you throw this cactus into the trash can…" In the corridor outside the door, Gotham police officers were talking to his next-door neighbors while Connors got dressed, washed up, and jumped out of the window.

His ultimate human reaction ability made his minor tricks even more natural.

He landed lightly on the ground and then reached out to stop a taxi. After the supercar was suspended in the air by silk, the Gotham police officers sent the luxury car from the Wayne Group back, and Connors was once again relying on his legs.

He was going to Gotham Forest today to consult Poison Ivy about something. The actions of these Gotham villains were all related to the "Laughing man" incident, and they were all individuals who had previously been imprisoned in Arkham Asylum.

The only two who hadn't caused any trouble yet were Killer Croc and Poison Ivy. But Killer Croc was a character active in the sewers in the comics, and Connors didn't want to go to that kind of place, so the only person he could find now was Poison Ivy.

The existence of "The Green of Everything" made Connors clearly know that "Poison Ivy" Ivy would not harm him, so he didn't take any precautions in advance, and even considered bringing two boxes of gifts.

But plans never keep up with changes. When passing by a large screen on a Gotham street, the news caught his attention: "Yesterday, the Gotham Police Department received a call and found that four shareholders of the 'Iceberg Club' were hanging in the air with iron chains. They were dying when rescued…"

Needless to say, this was Connors's work. What caught his attention was a line of small words scrolling below the news screen: "Joseph Jewelry Store has been robbed for the fifth time this month. From the surveillance footage, it can be seen that the thief was a masked woman with an extremely agile figure…"

The thief, masked, and skilled. These three keywords made Connors think of one person: Catwoman!
