---- Good luck :)! ----

The message from the Immortal System was minimized. Soon, he caught a glimpse of the two men dressed in orange. With their noses and mouths covered by a thin fabric, they came to execute him. One man lit the way with a torch while the other followed. Zeke stayed hidden on the shadowy ledge just outside the perimeter of their light, fiddling with the rock he acquired. They reached the empty spot where Zeke was supposed to be residing.

" Where the hell did that little brat disappear to?"

"How should I know? Do you think someone else already took the kid to be executed?"

" Don't be dumb, we received direct orders from Master Lee himself to see this through. You should know better than most that no one is crazy enough to bypass his command."

"Yah, you're right, maybe..."

Cack!

A sudden noise coming from the direction of the front entrance interrupted their conversation as they both turned around.

" What was that? Do you think he's trying to make a break for it?"

The man asked, lighting the gaps of darkness, waiting for a response from his partner behind him. However, he heard a faint gargle followed by a light thud instead. Spinning back around, the torch he held revealed an unhinged act of violence.

Witnessing a mere boy kneeling over his deceased friend, who now had a torch stick protruding from the back of his bloodied skull.

" I don't think so."

Zeke said in an ominous tone. Startled, the last man anxiously reached for his sword but was met with a dagger to the eye.

Dropping the flame, he grasped at his face, screaming in pain and terror. Immediately, Zeke drew the short sword from his fallen victim's waist. Expertly slicing both Achilles tendons of the screaming man, forcibly dropping him to his knees.

" Please spare me! I'm sorry!"

The helpless assailant pleaded while Zeke motioned for him to quiet down.

" Shhhh, it'll be alright. No hard feelings, I know you were only following orders. So, I promise, if you just tell me everything you know, we can act like this incident never happened. Okay?"

With his shadow looming large, Zeke tried to give off a warm smile. Something that could only be seen as sinister to his maimed predator turned prey. Desperate for any chance of surviving, the one-eyed man began to spill all the beans, which wasn't much, being just a grunt. Yet, it held some value for Zeke at this moment.

" There, I told you all I know. Now you'll let me go like you promised, right?"

" Sure, a promise is a promise."

Zeke grinned. Hearing this, the masked assailant let out a haggard breath of relief through the excruciating torment of his injuries.

' This boy is a natural killer! However, he is still too naive. Once I recuperate, he'll get his just deserts, I swear it!'

The man thought with vengeance in his heart.

" Oh, wait a minute. There seems to be a disconnect between us, but I don't remember promising to let you live, though."

Zeke remarked, raising the short sword high.

" You..."

Zeke then sliced the man's head clean off his shoulders before he had a chance to dispute.

" Hmph, I told you that we can act like this incident never happened. So, that's exactly what I aim to do. I'm just making sure that you do the same."

Reading the information displayed, Zeke focused solely on the con. Recalling how the man mentioned that every subordinate and trainee would be forced to consume this blood centipede.

' Tsk, I could've sworn that he told me everything. Damn, most likely than not, the guy I assassinated could've known about the antidote, instead. How could a weakling like him have such valuable knowledge? '

He pondered. Annoyed by this hidden variable, which turned out to be something Zeke was already familiar with before he ever began his interrogation.

The blood centipede was a staple of the demonic faction, raising these vile little creatures in a special jar. Those who digested it would fall under a master slave pact. If they showed any signs of insubordination, their life would be forfeited with a simple snap of the finger.

"Ugh, there's no point in crying over spilled milk. The rewards offered aren't that bad anyway, despite my mistake."

Zeke sighed while his finger hovered over the "Yes" button.

"That's strange. Why would the system give me an option to deny my reward? Hmmm, maybe..."

Coming to a sudden realization, Zeke put off accepting his prizes. Sitting down undeterred, in a pool of his victim's blood, crossed-legged.

Closing his eyes, he peered inside the depths of himself, delving into opening his undeveloped meridian points and spiritual root.

Soon, he discovered his minuscule spiritual root nestled around a foreign dormant core. He had some idea of this new phenomenon from the information gathered earlier. Zeke began to perform the circulation technique called Demon's Breath.

A legendary technique that the orthodox faction publicly forbade, while being held in high regard by demonic practitioners alike.

Learning this technique one day by fortuitously coming across an unnamed demonic cultivator inheritance, who reached the heights of Stage 5 Grandmaster.

However, Zeke was only able to use this overpowered technique a handful of times away from prying eyes.

Soon, a pair of crimson thread materialized from Zeke, wrapping the two dead bodies up like a mummy as the two became nothing but skeletons with pruned skin.

Converting all their blood into eternal energy, He absorbed the crimson threads.

After a short while, Zeke calmly opened his eyes as the blood surrounding him was no more.

'Things may be different, but I'm glad that this body was still blessed with the Blood Physique at least.

Zeke stood in relief, awakening his spiritual root and opening up his meridian channels. Qi started to flow once again as he reached Stage 1 Master, skipping the Disciple Rank. However, Zeke wasn't satisfied, unable to form a magical circle around his inactive core.

" I guess it's to be expected, having no experience with magic in my previous life."

Zeke murmured, referring to the intel that this world mainly had Wizards, and Knights. These two classes sat at the top of the food chain, while the martial path was considered a lost cause, usually reserved for born commoners.

Still coming to grips with his current circumstance, Zeke decided to move on for now, eager to see if his theory proved correct. Opening up the minimized screen, he couldn't help but smile.
