Everfrost Claws

'We got you now!' The earth demon smiled as he saw his spell manifested.

The ground beneath the wind demon, which also means the ground below Kayn's feet, trembled as the earth demon's spell manifested itself.

Kayn was left helpless as the ground his feet were standing on rose from the ground.

There were countless ice spikes all around him, and he couldn't just jump straight towards a patch of them without being stabbed by them himself.

His body might be resistant to the ice mana as the mana had come from his own body, but the ice spikes were still, spikes.

They were sharp, sturdy ice spikes that would stab anyone who was stupid enough to jump towards them.

Moreover, the platform that the earth demon had cast using all of his focus was big enough that Kayn couldn't simply get away with a couple of jumps.

Without being able to escape, Kayn couldn't do anything as a large area of him and the ice spikes were separated from the large ice field around them.

The amount of ice mana around the surroundings were lessened significantly as Kayn's mana regeneration was still doing its best to restore Kayn's mana.

There was already mana in Kayn's body. In fact, almost three quarters of his total mana pool was already restored by his overworked heart.

But for some reason, it seems that his body needed to be completely filled with mana first for him to be able to cast his spells like before.

Kayn already prepared another new spell for dealing with the two elemental demons. 

He had fought the wind demon and earth demon enough to know what kind of spell would work against them.

He was sure that he would be able to achieve his goal of surviving this ordeal if he could cast his spells.

Unfortunately, he still wasn't able to cast his spell and he was cut off from the source of abundant ice mana from his surroundings.

There were still ice spikes around him, but the amount of mana that they emitted wasn't the same as when he was surrounded by a large field of them.

Kayn began cutting more ice spikes around him just so that he could dodge the wind demon's spells that were thrown at him nonstop.

Fortunately, the earth demon didn't have a visual of him from beneath the raised platform, and the layer of ice on the ground prevented the earth demon from sensing Kayn's movement, so Kayn got one less problem to worry about.

The ice spikes still did their job as a wall of defense against the wind demon's spells, but they won't last much longer as there were a limited number of them in the raised platform that the earth demon raised.

'If only I could absorb the mana from these ice spears directly…'

Looking at the scattered ice spikes on the ground still holding their shape even after being partly destroyed, Kayn then realized something.

Kayn then grabbed 4 ice spikes on the ground and held them in his hands.

Kayn hurriedly went behind a thick patch of ice spikes so that he would be protected from the wind demon's attacks for some time as he executed his plan.

'This would fucking hurt, but it will definitely works!'

Without a shred of hesitation, other than before he committed to do the plan, Kayn brought down the sharp tips of the ice spikes and shoved them into his own body.

Stabbing them into his limbs might hinder his movements, so Kayn stabbed the 4 ice spikes into his abdomen and his chest, the other side where it was just hollow behind his ribcage.

Blood began to flow from the wounds, but it quickly froze due to the intense cold emitted by the spikes.

The moment the ice spikes stabbed themselves into Kayn's body, the ice mana quickly did their job as they tried to spread and invade the body that they had stabbed themselves in.

However, they recognized the mana in the body was the same as their own and they ceased their intent to invade.

What happened instead was the body absorbed more and more of the mana from the ice spikes.

The mana contained inside the ice spikes didn't resist as they thought of it as they were coming back to their own home.

The condensed mana that made up the rigid ice spikes then began dwindling from the ice spikes as cracks began to appear on the bodies of the ice spikes.

And not more than a few seconds, all the ice spikes crumbled into pieces as all the mana that had materialized them into the world had been absorbed by Kayn.

With condensed mana from 4 ice spikes, Kayn got the boost that his body needed to fill up his body completely with mana, jump-starting his heart to absorb even more mana from the surroundings.

The moment it happened, Kayn could feel his mana flowing back like normal in his body, and the density was the same as before.

Kayn tried forming runes on his hands and they finally appeared.

'Fucking finally.'

Kayn wasted no time as he cast a strengthening spell, one that he had modified with his better mana comprehension so that he wouldn't need to go through a circle to let the mana strengthen his body.

The spell just manifested and the mana in Kayn's body began empowering and strengthening his body.

With excitement in his mind, Kayn cast a partial ice armor that covered his arms before he cast the new spell that he had especially prepared to deal with the earth demon.

He was almost always locked in a stalemate against an earth demon due to their annoying defense.

Whenever Kayn cast a strong spell that could destroy the thick earth walls, the earth demon was able to put up another one as Kayn finished casting his follow up spell.

So the new spell that Kayn had built was related to speed. More precisely, his ability to send out powerful attacks from a distance quickly.

And the name of the spell was,

"Everfrost Claws"
