The atmosphere froze.

My heart momentarily skipped a beat, and my cheeks flushed with warmth.

But that was surely just from the heat of the bonfire.

Victor's expression remained cold and stern, betraying no emotion.

As if he didn't realize how suggestive his words were.

Ethan, unable to contain himself any longer, lashed out: "Victor, what are you saying? Scarlett is my fiancée. Of course she likes someone like me. Are you playing dumb?"

Everyone turned to look at me.

I thought for a moment, then chose to answer the question: "Me? I like honest vampires. Honest with others, with themselves, and with me." I deliberately let my gaze linger for a moment on Victor's long fingers, recalling the sensation those hands might bring me.
