Chapter 9

Lilith dragged me to the edge of the cliff, the night wind howling. In the struggle, the lantern fell into the ravine, instantly swallowed by darkness.

My body was half-suspended over the cliff's edge. One false move and I would plummet into the abyss, torn apart by the werewolves below.

Lilith looked down at me, watching my desperate struggle for survival, and laughed:

"Every year at the Vampire night feast, there's always an 'accident'. And with the wind so strong tonight, it wouldn't be unusual for something to happen to you."

"Scarlett, you've always been so lucky."

"I slipped you a potent fountain of joy. After all, just photos would be too bland. A video would be so much better... You're usually so noble and aloof, aren't you? Let's see how you'll face everyone when the footage spreads through all the clans. Everyone will see how you cater to any man, kneeling on the ground, begging others to use your body."

"It's a shame that coward Archer bailed at the last minute."
