Jason walked slowly through the alleyway that led to Rosso's Bar. Each step echoed in the silence, but none of them louder than the storm raging inside him.
His entire being… felt shaken.
It wasn't fear—Jason didn't do fear. It was something deeper. Existential. Unsettling.
The letter he received last night had shattered something within him. Someone—something—knew. Not just his name. Not just his secrets.
They knew everything.
The truth he had long buried beneath layers of charisma, manipulation, and bloodstained glory.
His reincarnation. His past life.
The moment Jason realized he was no longer in the boring, mundane world he once knew, he had cast that former life aside without hesitation. Irrelevant. Forgotten. He wanted this new existence. This world of chaos, power, curses, and gods. He wanted it to be his reality—undisturbed.
And yet, someone had disturbed it. Violently.
That letter… it wasn't just a threat. It was a crack in the mirror he had built around himself.
He had run through every possibility.
Could it be a mind-reader? Perhaps Martian Manhunter had picked up on something unguarded? Jason had already made contingency plans for that—fire, panic, deception.
A sorcerer then? Doctor Fate perhaps? That was more plausible, though Fate rarely meddled with individuals unless... destiny demanded it.
Batman?
The thought chilled him more than he wanted to admit.
Could the Bat have discovered who he really was? Was this retaliation? Was this about the secret Jason had revealed to him—the one thing Bruce never wanted anyone to know?
None of it mattered now.
He had arrived.
The glow of Rosso's Bar buzzed faintly above the crooked door. Neon red letters hummed in the silence, bathing Jason in a warm yet ominous hue.
He pushed the door open.
Inside, the air was thick with smoke and quiet murmurs. Criminals. Smugglers. Hired killers. The usual Gotham filth.
But Jason wasn't here for them.
He scanned the room slowly. His senses sharp, fingers twitching.
Whoever sent that letter knew him—intimately.
And just like that, he found him.
There was no need for words. No theatrics.
One man. Sitting at the far end of the bar. Black suit. Blonde hair. An aura that screamed of elegance, confidence, and something far beyond human.
He didn't look. He didn't flinch. He simply sipped his drink like the world was his toy.
Jason moved in silently, no wasted motion, and without hesitation, wrapped his clawed hand around the man's throat from behind.
"Who are you?" he growled.
The man didn't resist. Didn't flinch. He simply smiled.
"Oh? Looks like you finally made it. Let's clear the place, shall we?"
He snapped his fingers.
Reality shattered.
Everything—everyone—in the bar vanished in an instant. Not a sound. Not a trace.
Gone.
Jason blinked.
The floor, the walls, the tables, the glass—all of it erased, leaving only the bar counter, the man's drink, and a pair of stools. Surrounding them was an infinite, reddish void that pulsed like the inside of a dying sun.
Jason stumbled back, instinctively reaching to summon his cursed claws again—but they didn't come. His body felt... wrong.
His speed—gone. His power—gone.
For the first time in months, Jason felt ordinary.
Helpless.
"Sit down, Jason Anderson," the man said, his tone calm yet absolute. "Don't make this more difficult than it already is."
Jason let out a long sigh and dropped into the seat. The moment he sat down, a drink materialized in front of him—perfectly chilled, perfectly clear.
He stared at it. Then at the man.
"What are you, a god or something? Sheesh," Jason muttered, picking up the glass and examining the liquid.
"How do I know this isn't poisoned?"
"If I wanted you dead, Jason," the man said smoothly, "you would be."
"Tch… Whatever, man." Jason rolled his eyes and took a sip anyway. "I don't like the position I'm in. You took away my powers and all, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna bow down to you. For all I know, this could just be a glorified illusion."
He set the glass down and fixed the man with a sharp gaze.
"Who are you? And how do you know me? Why do you know me? And where the hell are we?"
The man smiled—charming, arrogant, eternal.
"Well, let's see. I'm God's favorite child," he said, lifting his glass. "Lucifer Morningstar."
Jason's hand froze around the drink.
"What?"
"That's the appropriate reaction," Lucifer said with a smirk. "Nice to meet you, Jason. I'm the Devil."
Jason stared at him in stunned silence, then blinked. Once. Twice.
"Jesus fucking Christ…" he muttered. "Of all people? You? Wait... actually—this might be good."
Memories of the DC universe began crawling back. Stories. Power levels. Rumors.
"You're not truly a bad guy, right?" Jason said, eyes narrowing with cautious optimism. "I mean, from what I remember, you're… complicated."
Lucifer laughed lightly. "See, now this is interesting. I expected denial, rage, maybe some screaming—but you? You seem… relieved."
"I'm not relieved," Jason said. "I'm just recalibrating. You're strong. Like top five strong in this world. But how the hell do you know about me? Is it your power? Who else knows?"
Lucifer's smile didn't waver. But his tone cooled.
"You're not exactly in a position to interrogate me."
Jason scoffed but didn't push it.
Lucifer sipped again, then asked, "Do you know about the Great Wall?"
"The Great Wall?" Jason repeated, confused.
"Yes. It's a special wall. Invisible. Eternal. It surrounds our entire plane of existence. That means this galaxy, this universe, the multiverse—all of it. We're trapped inside a cosmic box, Jason. Even my Father can't escape it."
He leaned forward, voice softer now, almost reverent.
"But I did. I broke through."
Jason listened in stunned silence as Lucifer went on.
"When I crossed that boundary, it was the first time in my life I ever felt fear. I saw millions upon millions of other planes. An Omniverse. A Hyperverse. Outer realms. Beings that made even me look insignificant. Gods far beyond my Father. Powers so vast they could blink us out of existence without knowing we were ever here."
Jason exhaled hard and leaned back.
"Fucking hell," he muttered. "Here I was thinking I was gonna meet some S-tier villain. Instead, I get you, baring your eternal trauma like I'm your therapist. Look, man—life's big, okay? There's always someone stronger. Even I get that. Just gotta live it out the best we can. So unless you're here to kill me or take away my new life, how about you kindly fuck off and let me go back to my team?"
Lucifer chuckled darkly, amused. "Right to the point, I see. And that's exactly why I picked you."
He set his glass down and stood.
"You and your people… you come from a small world. A world with no powers. No gods. Just mundane little humans. And yet, you… people like you... dominate the worlds you fall into. I've watched it happen for eons. Some gods even do it for fun—drop mortals into other realms just to watch them rise. The thrill of it... it fascinated me."
Jason narrowed his eyes. "Wait—hold on. You're saying you're the one who sent me here?"
Lucifer smiled. "Yes. That was me."
Jason's jaw tightened. "So… these powers I have… the Sukuna stuff… That was you?"
"Indeed," Lucifer said, tilting his head. "Though I admit, they're not exactly what I'd call god-tier. Sukuna was fascinating, but even at his peak, he wouldn't make top ten on this planet, let alone the cosmos."
Jason scoffed. "You serious? Shit. Well, that means I can demand an upgrade, right?"
Lucifer shrugged. "Not quite. I can't just hand you more power—I'm not that kind of god. But I can make what you already have… stronger."
Jason leaned forward, curious now.
"And how exactly do we do that?"
Lucifer grinned.
"Simple," he said, his voice dropping into something both devilish and divine.
"I'm sending you to Hell."
