The logistics unit, true to its name, handles the behind-the-scenes essentials.
They transport food and intelligence, deliver weapons to the front lines, and basically keep everything running.
A mess of responsibilities, but without them, the front line wouldn't last a day.
That said, their combat power is... lacking.
Usually, the logistics teams are made up of older Genin or seasoned Chūnin, not because they're weak, but because they're experienced enough to survive without needing to be in the thick of the fighting.
Still, when war comes knocking, experience alone won't save you.
At this moment, Konoha's Second Logistics Unit had been annihilated.
Faced with the brutal onslaught of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, only a handful of survivors remained.
Might Guy, Ebisu, Shiranui Genma, and a few trembling Genin, huddled in the wreckage of their destroyed camp.
"I... we're going to die here, aren't we?"
Ebisu's voice trembled as tears ran beneath his dark glasses. His pants were already soaked, and not with blood.
Shiranui Genma said nothing, but the vacant look in his eyes said it all: shock, hopelessness, fear.
Might Guy stood in front, bloodied and bruised, breathing heavily. He clenched his fists tightly.
He could open the Third Gate, but even then, against one of the Seven Swordsmen, it would only buy time.
And now... all seven were here.
In front of them, Jinin Akebino, wielder of the Kabutowari, sneered as he raised his weapon.
"Alright, kids. Time to die."
He swung the Kabutowari high, ready to crush them all in one clean blow—
"Gate of Closing... OPEN!!!"
A blur of green lightning tore through the trees—
CRACK!
A fierce kick smashed into Jinin Akebino's side, sending him flying through several trees before he crashed into a hillside.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground trembled as trunks split like twigs.
Coughing blood, Jinin staggered up, groaning and holding his waist.
"Wh-what the hell...?"
A tall figure stood between the survivors and the swordsmen, green jumpsuit fluttering, steam rising from his body.
"The Blue Beast of Konoha!"
Might Duy, in the state of the Fifth Gate, raised his hand in a knife-hand stance, radiating burning power.
"Dad!"
Guy's voice cracked, eyes wide with shock and relief.
Ebisu and Genma gasped.
This guy? Eternal Genin Duy?
How is he this strong?!
"Guy!"
Duy called out, his voice booming over the rubble.
"I've opened the Eight Gates and..."
"I'm planning to open the Final Gate so you can escape. Take the others and run, don't stop! Head straight to the front-line barracks!"
He had been stationed at the Third Logistics Unit, not far from here.
When he heard that his son's camp had been ambushed, he opened the Eight Gates without hesitation
And rushed in.
"Eight... Gates?"
Guy stared, horror and awe battling in his expression.
"No—Dad, no! If you open the Final Gate, you'll—!"
"GUY!"
Duy cut him off. Back still turned, he raised a hand with a thumbs-up.
"This is the moment for the Blue Beast of Konoha to complete his mission!"
"Dad..."
Tears streamed down Guy's face. His fists trembled as a strange mix of grief and pride swelled in his chest.
"Sixth Gate—Gate of Joy, OPEN—!"
"I made it just in time."
A calm, familiar voice echoed through the clearing.
All eyes turned to see a lone figure standing atop a tree branch, looking down with quiet confidence.
Guts.
"GUTS!!!"
Guy's face lit up in disbelief and hope.
One of the Mist Swordsmen gasped.
"No way… Could it be...?"
"The one who killed the Third Raikage… and crippled the Third Tsuchikage..."
"The strongest Taijutsu ninja…"
"It's him!?"
Jūzō Biwa, the wielder of the Kubikiribōchō, stared down at Guts with disbelief.
"He looks like a damn kid, not even fifteen!"
Guts leapt from the tree, landing silently between Duy and the Mist Swordsmen.
He spoke without turning.
"Uncle Duy, take Guy and the others. Leave this to me."
His voice was calm. Certain.
"Don't argue... I'm strong now. This is the least I can do after everything you've done for me. For teaching me the Eight Gates... for believing in me."
Duy froze. But only for a moment.
Then he smiled, placing a hand on Guts's shoulder.
"I didn't teach you the Eight Gates expecting anything in return. But... thank you."
Guts nodded.
"Take them. I'll handle this."
Even though Guts framed it as repayment... Duy and the others could feel the truth in his words.
This wasn't just duty. He meant it.
This was Guts being Guts...rushing in, no matter the cost, for the people he cared about.
Duy turned and shouted:
"Guy! Genma! Ebisu! All of you—RUN! Head for the front-line barracks, now!"
But...
Crackle!
"You're not going anywhere."
Lightning sparked from Ameyuri Ringo's twin blades, Kiba. She aimed straight for the retreating group.
A massive bolt of lightning surged forward
FWUMP!
Guts vanished from his spot.
A crack echoed through the air as he reappeared in front of Ringo.
CRACK!!
A single punch collided with her jaw, distorting her face grotesquely.
Two of her molars shot from her mouth like pebbles.
BOOM—!!
Ringo's body flew across the battlefield, slamming into a hill over a hundred meters away, leaving a crater in her wake.
She barely managed to rise, blood pouring from her mouth.
"H-how… how is this possible...!?"
Guy's jaw dropped.
"That... that was without even opening the Eight Gates!?"
Guts stood where Ringo once was, dusting off his knuckles.
He smirked coldly.
"A ninja who's going to get killed by a Genin in the future... don't act so high and mighty."
Guts turned his gaze toward the remaining Mist Swordsmen.
He said with his hands crossed and a wide smile on his face, showcasing his white teeths.
"Come at me with the intent to kill. Don't hold back."
"Because if you hesitate..."
"You die."
Even among the most feared shinobi of the Mist, fear rippled through their ranks.
Fuguki Suikazan, wielder of Samehada, narrowed his eyes and shouted:
"Don't underestimate him! This is no fluke—he's the real deal. He's... The Strongest Taijutsu user alive!"
