Julian's breath was steady, his muscles coiled like a spring ready to snap. The Specter operative moved with preternatural speed—blades flashing through the dim light, slicing through the air with lethal precision.

Julian barely dodged a strike that could've ended him. Steel whispered past his cheek as he countered with a swift kick, knocking the attacker back against the cold metal wall.

The operative recovered instantly, lunging again, but Julian fired three quick shots—each one grazing armor, sparks flying on impact.

They collided in a blur of fists, blades, and gunfire—metal against muscle, man against ghost. Julian felt a burning slash across his arm, but he pressed on.

Behind him, the countdown ticked relentlessly:

Farther down the tunnels, Eve, Reese, and Carter moved with purpose, the stolen drive burning a hole in Eve's pocket.

"We need to reach the uplink room before Specters close in," Carter whispered, pausing at a fork.

Reese consulted his thermal scanner. "Multiple heat signatures moving fast. We're outnumbered. We have to split."

Eve's heart hammered. "Split again? We're barely holding together."

Carter nodded. "It's the only way."

Reese grinned grimly. "Looks like I'm going solo."

"No," Eve said, stepping forward. "I'm coming with you."

Reese gave her a brief, approving nod. "Good. Two triggers are better than one."

Eve and Reese slipped inside as the door hissed shut behind them.

Rows of blinking consoles lined the room. Reese rushed to set up the drive; Eve kept watch.

Suddenly, the temperature dropped. The Specters were here—silent, deadly.

Reese loaded the files onto the mainframe. "Uploading... now!"

A low hum filled the air as data streamed through the network—files exposing Nexus, Lucian's plans, every corrupt deal, every shadowed move.

Outside, footsteps thundered closer.

Julian grappled with the Specter, sweat mingling with blood. His arm throbbed, but adrenaline drowned out the pain.

With a sudden twist, Julian slammed the attacker into a console, sending sparks flying.

The operative staggered, then grinned beneath the helmet.

Julian smirked. "The end is just the beginning."

The upload completed with a soft beep.

Eve grabbed Reese's arm. "We did it. Let's get out of here."

They turned—only to find the entire Specter Unit blocking the exit.

Reese raised his gun. "Looks like we're making our last stand."

Carter raced alone, heart pounding. The explosions echoing above signaled chaos.

Julian limped, scanning the damage. The operative was down—but for how long?

"Julian, uplink secured! Data is live!" Eve's voice came through, breathless but victorious.

Julian allowed himself a moment of relief.
